507 and afe pro dry problems?
My 507 should be arriving soon and I was considering getting the afe pro dry filters. I have heard that this can cause CEL with lean mixture codes. Has anyone run aftermarket dry filters with the 507 successfully?

It's usually the oiled filters that cause the CEL codes. I've never personally heard of the dry filters causing a CEL to come on, unless the air boxes were not properly seated. Personally, I have had my aFe pro dry S filters on for over 9k miles and haven't had a problem at all.

thanks for the info, I was referring to this post: https://mbworld.org/forums/c63-amg-w...elete-cel.html
since it directly applies to a 507 with dry filters. There wasn't ever any further followup posts so perhaps it sorted itself out.

I went to autozone, borrowed their scan tool, cleared the codes and put the charcoal filters back in while leaving the Wesitec filters in place. I have about 1,000 miles with this setup installed and everything is perfectly fine and no more CEL's.
My guess is the plastic braces behind the charcoal filters could be to blame for the CEL. Some mass air sensors appear to be sensitive to turbulence for one reason or another and I believe the added turbulence caused by these braces when the charcoal filters are removed is too much.
I have a VelosDesignWerks tune on the way (should be here tomorrow) and may give it another shot with the new tune on the car. Worst case is the need to erase the CEL codes and put the charcoal filters back in again. I just cant get past how insane it appears/feels to suffocate the engine with the charcoal filter in there.
Give it a shot and let me know what you experience....
