Keyless go problem?

Well, yesterday I started the car with the push button no problem but quickly turned it off cuz I forgot smth in the house... I ran in w/o locking the doors.

When I returned to the car, the start button didnt work & the car didnt start even by turning the key. The dash was only showing the regular trip/odometer display, nothing abnormal.

The strange part is the key fob didnt work at all for the doors, I couldn't lock/unlock the doors at all even with the buttons on the key. It took about 10 minutes for the key button to work on the doors. All is good since.

I've searched the forum, but couldn't find anything... and spoke to Fung63, and he said it happened to him before. But wants more opinions on my problem.

Do you think it might be related to the steering column or ignition module? Fung63 thinks it's an electronic glitches, like the car computer got frozen? Any more inputs?

Similar issue here. I opened the door, closed and re-opened. It seemed to reset everything

Good advice Bob, I will try that next time it happens.

Now, after gathering the infos from my search:

1)If it's a steering column or ignition module problem, why my key is not responding to the doors?

2)If it's a battery key fob problem, why my car is not starting by turning the ignition?

3)If it's a car battery problem, why my dash is not saying low battery?

Meng, are you able to reproduce the issue?
If yes then i would say you have a problem. Might be just an one off electronic glitch.

It seems to me that it might be neither of those things if it was a one-time occurrence. ECU/DME glitch?

Anthony, no it didn't happened again... Yet! Lol

But I remember last year, I couldn't unlock my doors once with the keyless go. But it did unlock shortly after I played with the keyfob. I wasn't in the car to test the start button then, so not sure if it's the same issue.

Ok, once a while means glitch? Thx a lot for the feefbacks everyone, I appreciate it.

I just want to make sure it's nothing serious or else I will buy the extended warranty before next spring.

2010 with 9000 km, worth paying for the extended warranty? Lol

Overtime your 19's oem causes this problem with the rubbing so it builds an electric static which affects a lot of the internal electronics. A lot of people tend to just sell the rims instead of spending the money to find and fix the problem as the alternative! I'll cut down to the chase...

$ 888.00 for all 4 + $ 88 for shipping!

Had the same problem a couple weeks ago...So weird...Couldn't start the car and had to jump it...After that, no problems at all...These cars and their electrical systems these days are so touchy!

I hope it's only a battery issue. I was about to jump start it but my key start working. Weird

Happened to me once. Went to a store, re-started the car and nothing. Tried the button, tried the key, and still nothing. Sat back for a few seconds and tried again, and she starts.

I brought it to the dealer, and there were no codes. They blamed it on bad gas. I wasn't convinced so I blamed it on electrical gremlins. Hasn't happened since.

Thrilla, sounds like we had the same problem. Were u able to lock & unlock ur door?

I always put Ultra 94 religiously since I purchased the car, so it's not bad gas in my case.

Same thing with me, pulled to fuel up, went in to pay when I came out the car was in a coma..........! It was one of those WTF moments with another car waiting behind me to get in, must have though I was a di#* head. Anyway after a couple of minutes the car comes around as if nothing had happened, go figure!

I have not experienced exactly the same issue as you describe but every now and again I hit the keyless go start button and nothing happens. Try again, nothing. I then need to push it a few times to turn off from the "accessories on" setting and try again and it will start.

Must have been an awkward moment to make the guy behind wait for you. lol

Same question I asked thriller, were you able to lock/unlock the doors? My car really went into the coma like you said, my key was just not responding to everything.. not only the ignition.

Jimmy, next time it happens you should pull the start button out & turn the key in the ignition... that should work.

When this happens to mine I click the door lock button on the key fob while pointing it at the door. Once it recognizes the key fob it works fine when pushing the start button. Most of the problem with mine was from using batteries from The Source. Once I switched it back to MB batteries it has been working flawlessly. May be just a weak battery causing the problem.

Has anyone ever had issue with KG coming back to your car finding it unlocked? I was told it would auto lock but I have gotten in my car in a public parking garage after work all day only to realize I left my key in the office which is no where near my car I have to take an elevator up 4 floors.

Sorry dont want to highjack your topic but KG can be finicky at times unlocking or locking doors or "missing key" even with fresh batteries.

Interesting ^^

I didn't know Keyless Go automatically locks doors, I always lock it myself when I park the car.

Roswell, I was able to unlock my car to get in, but I didn't test locking and unlocking any further. I too use shell 93 religiously, so i doubt it's bad gas either. It hasn't happened since., but I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Keyless Go does not auto lock when you exit the car. You have to use the keyfob lock button or touch the outside of the door handle on the indentation.

I see, mine didn't respond to the doors so it makes me feel better it has to be related to the keyless go (or car battery) more than the steering column or ignition module.
