Dealer ripping me off?

So my car is an 09 and only has about 28K miles on it...brought it in today for a B service, and my advisor told me that it is also due for a brake flush and tranny service since it is every 3 years (it has been about 5 years so far since it was bought in December of 2008) or however many miles (my miles are low but it is an older vehicle)...I told him to go for it, but should I call him in the morning and have him pass? Is it worth it to get the tranny service and brake flush on the car given it's only got 28,000 miles just due to the time?

Any help would be great....thanks!

Just to be clear, I already looked up the maintenance schedule for my car, and it says an transmission fluid change, diff fluid change and brake fluid change are needed at 4yr or 40,000 miles...so should I just go ahead and get them done or wait til I hit 40K miles is really my question...

Brake flush is due every 2 years, I do mine every 3 years cuz I also have low mileage (did it when the car had 7k km).. So yes, u are long due for a brake flush.

Can't comment on the tranny flush.

Btw, why do u think the dealer is ripping u off? Was their pricing out of this world?

In my opinion, the dealership schedule maintenance is overkill.. All ways to make more money. I never get them to do service A-B or whatever. I only ask for oil change & change whatever I think is due. Ppl who pays for service is paying for an overpriced oil change in my opinion.

Brakes should be done every 2 years or so because brake fluid naturally absorbs water from the air.

I believe transmission flush should be done every 30k miles.

^^This. The "service" reminders simply tells the dealership how many hours should be spent "servicing" the car.

To the OP, go off of the maintenance manual where they indicate the mileage and year intervals. With one caveat: oil changes should be done every 6k miles, not 10k.

HIs pricing is actually fine..no problem with that. Came out to about $1200 along with the alignment which he says is $140 + a bolt kit if I need one (but he said he'd only charge my like $29 for that and no additional labor)...This is for a B service plus tranny flush and brake flush and an alignment...

My question is since I only have 28K miles, should I skip the tranny flush?

Also, my manual says diff fluid change at 40K miles/4 years, and he didn't mention that???

At 28k miles & since u haven't done any fluid change. I would do all 3 & not worry about it for another 30k miles or 4 years . The pricing seems ok.

The tranny should be "ok." You're close to the 30k mile interval so it's more preference if you want to get it serviced early or not. Personally, I would get it done because it's been 5 years; just the time it's been in there might warrant servicing.

^^ exactly, 4-5 years is long enough let alone 28k miles. Prevention goes a long way.

Yeah usually maintenance schedule from the dealer is just too much if you know how to take care of your car. I was due a B service this week but I asked my dealer to do a simple oil change. I could do it my self but prefer to have the dealer do it in order to get some proof of good service history in case i have to sell the car .
And 5-6k mls between oil change is a good pattern.

That's a decent price, tranny service is not easy on these cars.

The tranny service is not hard at all. There are instructions posted here in this forum, as well as a few other forum topics on this site.

It's just time consuming, depending on what you think your time is worth, and how mechanically inclined you are. Personally, I do everything myself, I enjoy the work, it is mostly relaxing so the time is worth it to me.

Service advisor called me today...said they are running into some "block" issue when trying to reprogram the car for the folding mirrors...my car is an 09...they said they might have to send their laptop to get some software download or something from Mercedes and then reprogram it later???? Anyone of this make sense or more importantly, does anyone have any info I can tell the dealer?

Thanks in advance

Sorry to hear about the mirrors, our cars can be really stubborn when comes to programming these little electronic (like the new tails).

At worst, u can use them w/o power folding feature. They look much fresher than the 09.

OT, do u have pics of ur 3pcs CF wheels? Looks interesting..

Mirrors do look great, but gotta wait til Monday to ahve them fold and have the puddle lights work I guess...

More importantly, I have some sort of a leak now??? It is weird....clear liquid...no apparent odor, and it's leaking from right in front of the front driver's side wheel (droplets are coming from the seam where the bumper lip meets that black plastic in front of the wheel...any idea what it is??? I ruled out A/C condensation because the A/C wasn't run at all on the short drive back from the dealer and not only that, but now almost 6 hours later, it's still leaking....

Is it brake fluid??? I'm not sure of the color of what they use....argh!!! I gotta take it back in the morning...

@Roswell...they are 3-piece wheels with the center portion wrapped in CF Got them from modular concepts...not sure if they are even in business still or not haha

Well you can feel by the touch if it's water or oil. OEM brake fluid is kinda light yellowish. Check the level in your master cylinder to see if it's decreasing.
Other than that i dont recall any liquid running behing the wheel well.
