2010 Pre Facelift vs 2011 Facelift - Which?
hi everyone,
Have wanted a c63 for a long, long time. Finally (maybe) in the position to buy one.
Am tossing up at this stage (I'm in Australia) trying to get a low KM 2010 for around the $80,000 mark. OR I'm hoping to try to get a low KM 2011 post facelift for around $110,000.
(By the way there aren't many cars for sale at these prices but here's hoping)
I think that the outside of the 2010 looks better, but I think the inside of the 2011 looks much, MUCH better. This is a fairly big deal for me. I think the old one looks plasticy and dated but the new one looks much more opulent and what a Merc should be.
Not sure if the gearbox will be a huge dealbreaker one way or another (I don't plan on tracking the car at this stage). Have heard good and bad about both.
I'm mindful of the fact that the facelift version would likely hold its value a lot better than the older model. I'm also thinking that buying a newer car would (in a perfect world) mean less can go wrong maintenance wise.
Not sure if waiting for a price drop when the new one comes out is an option, as I don't think the new one will be out for a fair while.
I've done a fair few sums and the big question is what will the cars be worth in 5 years time. If the 2010 is worth $50,000 and the 2011 is worth $80,000 then the incremental cost between the two isn't huge.
However if the 2010 is worth only $40,000 then it actually becomes a better option financially to buy the 2011.
anyway, rambling a bit, anyone's thoughts are most welcome. thanks.

MBWorld Fanatic!
Personally I prefer the exterior of the pre-facelift, having said that, newer technology is nice to have as well. Tough one, really up to you and what is more important.

2015 E63S AMG & 2013 GLK350
I feel AMG nailed it with the facelift on the C63, especially the coupe both inside and out. The display is greatly improved, the lighting package is redone front and rear, not to mention the MCT. But the biggest thing that sold me was the coupe body style, after my first C class many years ago I always felt that it was too small for a sedan and stayed with E classes for a long time but the C63 coupe is perfect

This is really a personal option, the new trans is much nicer on the newer cars however i can't till the difference between a regular C class and the C63 on the newer models unless I look 2x sometimes. The pre facelift was very aggressive and just looking at it tells you it's a beast. The new model just looks to plain. As for interiors it's also personal. The new model has a much more elegant interior vs the preface lift it's much more plain which I personally prefer on a sports sedan. It's truly up to you and what you prefer....
