Brand new CTSV vs C63 EC V4
I wasn't sure what the turn out would be...
My buddy bought a new CTSV coupe about a month ago.
We got together tonight for some fun.
4 pulls from 40 to roughly 130-140 (total guess but can't be far off).
The first run was no good. I was excited and screwed up shifting (paddles, I know how dummy proof do they need to make it...). I also realized after the run I had my AC on.
We had two solid runs. 1st he tried to cheat me by 3 real quick beeps and punched it, pulled me a car and to my disbelief I slowly began to real him in as we got higher in the Rpms. The 2nd runs was pretty good, he again did a quick 3 beep and yanked a bit of a lead on me from the dig and pretty much finished there, i would say he got me by a 1/2 car to 120. The 3rd run was a much more fair run from the start. I gave a good 3 beeps and we punched it, I pulled about a 1/2 a car, then i saw him shift his (6spd manual) car and pulled him another 1/2 car, as we reached about a 100 or so he started pulling on me according to my passenger. We probably let off around 140 and I was still ahead but my passenger said he was pulling, I never saw him in the pass window.
Fun facts:
I had 1/4 tank gas (93)
He has 1/8 tank gas (93)
I weigh 210lbs
He weighs 165lbs
My passenger weighs 215lbs
His passenger weighs 175lbs
I am Erocharged with K&N's
He is bone stock
I guess overall I am impressed with the C63 as it is an 09' and the CTSV is a 14'. I am also impressed with the Erocharged tune as I don't believe the C63 stands a chance against a CTSV stock.
Time to start looking for some more power adders!

I am a weight trainer. I am probably somewhere around 16%bfi at the moment. So yes I could afford to lean up, but I am still in somewhat if a bulking phase. I am 6'1" and my pass is 6'5". My competitor is 5'6" and his pass is prob 5'10".

Great man
I think you were able to pull on him because of your new diffuser ... lol
I drove test the cts-v wagon 2 months ago. Fast car but a bit boring stock. I didn't like the transmission as well.
I smell new mods in the pipe... the bug has definitely settled

Just realized just because you may be paddle shifting doesn't mean you're in manual mode. I have realized there is a button to switch into manual mode from sport. Wondering if this would have helped during my race with him...

Yeah I know pretty pathetic, but I have probably owned the car 6 months and have had very little seat time (may have put 1200 miles on it in 6 mo's), very little time to play around. I am learning all of its gadgets though.
Soooo do you have any input to the question...?

Are you running a full exhaust with the headers or is everything else stock?
What effect did the headers have on the sound of the car?

Good runs. Next time do a 40mph roll and put it in S and shift down to 2nd. Let your car do the shifting. You should be slightly ahead of him with a tune. CTSVs throw down similar numbers to a tuned/filter C63. You can walk him hard with full bolt ons.

No. I didn't realize that was a button. I have not had a whole lot of time to play with this car yet. It still feels brand new to me and I have had it for roughly 6 months. I travel a lot for work and may get in the drivers seat once a week for 10-20 mins if I am lucky. Hopefully my schedule will slow down here in a little while and I can really dive into the technology of this beast.
I did notice that when I first hit a paddle that the insignia on the dash goes from "C" to "S", I assume that once it indicates "S" I am in sport mode and do not need to hit the button... Only need to hit the button to get into manual mode...?
