'13 C63 Sedan - Squeaking Dash
So I have had my C63 sedan for a year. The plastic fascia around the radio, dial pad, a/c, etc. squeaks on and off.
Does anyone know if the front fascia piece comes off from the front of the Comand box? Dealer never fixes the squeaks and I think some felt tape in there will do it.
Thanks.

They do, but it is always the same "we can hear it" etc., etc. So even though it is a "let the car sit, start it up in the morning and hear it while cold" directive, it still is going on.

There is a TSB (technical service bulletin) on this, and there are MB service instructions for warranty repair.
Push your dealer.

Ok, I gotta throw this out there. I've had 2 C classes and now the C63. They all suffered from this and every time I brought it up with the dealer, they would open Pandora's box trying to solve my problem. And each time they started to open that dash and fix one problem, another squeak or rattle would pop up later somewhere else.
I recommend you consider learning to live with it and accept it as an inherent c class flaw. The plastic on that dash does not like to be disassembled.

Sorry bro, peeps didn't buy a C63 at $65k-$125k to live with it. Unacceptable.

I know how much it costs and I've read that argument over and over again. But here we are and he can take it and let them open it up and put it back together again. Returning when the weather changes for another creak.
I'm not your "bro". I'm your daddy.

Ferrari's rattle
What can be done about it? Nothing is perfect
The car can't be lemon'ed over it
Take it to the dealer and let them have a shot
My experience the more you mess with plastic parts the more likely to have issues
The c klasse is just a common car
It's used as a taxi
It's like a ford or chevy in Germany
Nothing special
Our version gets hot rodded and better trim level
And it gets the rattles lol

Glad you are content with the fail, just imagine how bad the build quality would be if everyone felt that way.
and btw, your Pedro is weak and if I want your opinion i'll give it to you.

I understand both sides of the argument. my friend has two Aston martins and the leather dash is lifting up (!!!!), but he doesn't care. it's up to the owner I say. I personally try to address the squeaks by myself, but if the dealership can take a crack under warranty, id say go for it.

Small things I just live with or fix. Overall its a built machine and is going to have minor issues....if you want absolute perfection get a all by hand built Rolls Royce

You guys should have heard my 911. Sounded like a squeaker from a pet toy getting raped by a recently fixed mastiff.
I understand that the squeaks are annoying. Sometimes you can just ride them out but you'll never get it back to how it was the day you bought it. Felt tape might not be a bad option

where do you buy felt tape anyways? I casually checked a couple of hardware and auto parts stores, but they didn't have any.
edit: nvm. good old google saves the day.

I've had mine apart a couple of times - the first time to fix a squeak (worked), & the second to route some wiring.
Mind you, I chased a rattle in the gearshift for a full day until I found that I had dropped some coins into the coin-pocket <Doh!>
Like a lot of things ... Take care, slowly, and use lubricant when necessary.

Just happened to see this thread on the home page. Squeaks in any car drives me nuts and I make it my mission to track them down and fix them. Plastic on plastic is the worst. I finally found something that seems to work long term. If you go to most any decent bicycle store they will sell little bottles of wax chain lubricant. Finish Line is the brand I have. It is wax dissolved in some sort of harmless solvent so it is way thinner than water. If you hold the nozzle to a crack, it will wick in, but within just a few seconds the solvent evaporates and you are left with this clean wax. It's not greasy so it does not attract dirt. Whatever stays on the surface just wipes away with a rag. If you are lucky and the squeak is from edges that meet that you can see, it will wick in and fix it. If it is behind, remove stuff and just flood every surface with the stuff. Every surface where one thing touches another. It won't hurt anything. A car sounds like a tomb when you get rid of a squeak.
