Installed trunk spoiler but tape doesnt stick all the way.......
So I had a shop install my CF DTM style trunk spoiler last month but for some reason the double-sided tape is coming off around the edges as well as some other places, basically the tapes not all the way down. Im just wondering do some of you guys that have this trunk spoiler have the same issue, is it normal for it to not stick all the way through? Is it the type of tape that is used? The shop told me it's normal and it will never be perfect where it sticks all the way.. They did clean the area after removing the stock spoiler before putting the new spoiler on..

Lift up on the spoiler where it appears to be lose.
Take a hair dryer to that area and apply additional double sides tape on top of the existing tape as it may need doubled up in that area.
If this doesn't work, take it off and redo it doubling up in those areas not sticking.

No, not normal if done properly
Make sure the part fits flush without tape first
Might need to sand/heat & bend until satisfied
Then tape
Put some grease pencil alignment marks on body and piece
Prep is everything
Clean with a degreaser
Use an adhesive promoter
Use good tape of appropriate width and thickness
Preheat all surfaces
Expose only a foot or so of tape in the middle ( or end) depending on the piece
Work out from the middle ( or end) when sticking the piece on removing the backing as you go
Helps to have an extra set of hands
Keep pressure on it for a few hours with tape

You could also use more of a permanent adhesive, rather than tape. More risky but cleaner in the end.

DTM trunk spoiler? Is that the big spoiler like the BS aero pack?
I wouldn't trust double side tape for that. Use bolts to secure it.

That sucks. What's even more irritating is the shop telling you that it will ever be right and It's normal. I'd never go back on that note.
Could the spoiler be warped in a way that is not allowing it to sit flush with the trunk line?

I had an issue with double-sided tape failing on wheel weights. 3M is a top brand, and the go to brand IIRC, but for some reason this batch was bad and wasn't as adhesive as normal. The adhesive may be bad, but without more info it's harder to say.

Man this sucks, I just dont know if the shop will try to charge me for re-doing it or not.. I examined it closer and it looks like just the center tape is coming off as well as the tape around the edges of the spoiler coming off.. It doesnt look that bad from afar but isn't perfect..

I'm having a body shop install my front splitter, rear diffuser, and trunk lid spoiler. I did the spoiler myself but the end was lifting already. I used 3m tape, adhesive promoter, etc. The body shop said they are going to use an epoxy product to attach the parts. Guess I'm on a one way street now. lol
