2012 P31 coupe vs M4
So as the title states, this is about my encounter with a friends M4.
I was part of a local cruise a few days ago, approx. 100 cars or so.
There were a few M4's there as well as A bunch of F10 M5's. The event was basically 70% BMW's.
Also having an E60 M5 I decided to take the new toy out and have fun.
So far all I have done is a weistec tune and the weistec air filters.
The cruise led us into a stretch of road that is very industrial so there was little to no traffic since the cruise was at night and a lot of distance between lights.
I was at the front and next to me was my friend in his M4. Both had 1 passenger so no advantage although the M4 is already a few hundred pounds lighter.
We start from the light slow and I shift into second pretty early and I hear him gun it, he's a half a car ahead as he got the jump but then I was extremely surprised with what followed...
After a few seconds I was 1 car ahead, 2, 3.... Walked him very badly considering we only went up to about 100.
I know our cars are beasts but just love seeing real world results come into play!!

my friend jus got a 2012 CTSV coupe…i raced him from about 35-40 roll. and he was only half a car ahead of me…but his car is stock w/556 HP..mines is tuned w/ straight pipes and row air boxes

33% more displacement
Slightly higher cr
Much closer in weight
More rubber
Better diff
Stock won't be close since even a stock w204 will run with a stock m3/4
The w205 will smoke a stock m3/4
Tuned to the same boost level the AMG everytime

With a tune and some supporting mods, I wouldn't be surprised to see the w205 pushing close to 600hp.
Plus the w205 won't need recorded engine noise played in the stereo.

The S a few tenths and a few mph better
I want to see a scale wt
Either way stock will suit me fine

it was a manual, but my friend is a great driver and shifts like a demon, but still no dct.
but i completely agree nothing like our beasts sound

Yes we definitely were at the same event! Good meeting you too, car looked immaculate, C63 coupes are a rare breed, glad to see another one look soo good!

I dunno...these M4s are very quick. I ran a bonestock 2015 M3 at a roll event a few months ago and it walked me up top pretty convincingly. I have a 2012 PP coupe.

get a tune or be more agressive on your car..i walked a stage 2 m3 a few months ago no problems and I'm N/A, drive your benz like you stole it..mines a 09 with the old transmission too

Yes they are quick forsure, probably the difference of the weistec tune that gave me and you the different results considering I have a 2012 PP coupe as well.

People rag on the old 7 speed trannies, but my tech friends are telling me that they are more durable. He's seen quite a few mct trannies come in with slipping clutches.
