I mean... I hope they are ok and not sure they will ever NOT drink out of a straw against or need a ventilator to breathe... But what a couple idiots to be driving like that ... The Lord giveth and then He taketh away

Nah. The article i read said the driver crawled from the wreckage and then pulled the passenger out. Shortly after, the car burst into flames.

they are phenomenally lucky to have lived. morons. I'm sorry, I love to drive my car and speed a bit, and I guess an argument can be made for driving faster on the autobahn (no idea where this was), but I guess you've got to figure the risk is significant. ridiculously lucky.

I hope they'll think twice before doing anything similar again .. if they still can...

none... for now
*195mph crash.
That aside, I wish we could see what happened. The passenger starts bouncing, but the wheel/driver's hands are steady as a rock till the last second.

They may have understood the risks of driving at that speed and perhaps accepted the consequences, but I clearly saw other people on that road that were not racing (i.e. "regular folk") and it's not fair to them to potentially get caught up in that accident, let alone be injured or die because of it.

Something must have happened to the car.
Damn it's a hand build Italian, anything can break or come lose at any time.
I personally drove several times over 190mph but only for 30sec tops.
It can be save if you do it with almost no traffic and in perfect conditions (autobahn).
used to drive to work every day going 100 to 120mph and nothing ever happened.
At least it's safer than going 70mph eating a burger and texting at the same time behind the wheel (US interstate).

The road surface changed, causing the car to lose control. It hit the guard rail and then slid into the ditch and flipped. I'll look for the article I read...

Incredible demonstration of the safety of the Huracan if you ask me, since both survived a 300+kmh crash :O.
And yeah I drove twice at 240km/h on the autobahn and it was scary as ****. All it takes is one driver not checking his mirrors when changing lanes and you're ****ed.

How about a head on collision at 200mph... Can the lambo protect against that?

It's the same with everything like base jumping or sking down a hill.
It just takes getting used to.
I drove up to 200km/h for 30min commuting daily for over 3years before I moved to the US
Never had an issue with someone not checking there mirrors before changing lanes.
The key is, left lane for passing cars only, rear view mirror check every 3sec to see upcoming cars and to be aware of your surroundings.
Driving fast make pay more attention and being on high alert. That alone reduces the risk of an accident.
Everytime I take coworkers to germany for a business trip I get a fast rental car.
As soon as the signs show no speed limit I punch it to 250km/h.
Most of the guys I took holding on for their life at fist but then get used to it.
Nothing to it.
I'm more afraid that semi trucks here in the US drive up to 85mph and pass cars.
They need to be slowed down to at most 60.
