What are they like in Winter???
Hi All,
Currently looking for a C63 but i'm reading and hearing that they are a pain in the **** in the winter weather, i live in the UK so it's pretty wet & miserable here at the moment. Am i going to regret buying a C63 in the winter months?
Advice or opinions from you guys who have knowledge of these cars in poor conditions would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks

My car is fine in the snow (as long as there is less than 4 inches on the roads). But you must remember that this is still a rear drive, powerful car and not a snowmobile.

There fine, little slippy if your not concentrating fully and hard on the loud peddle, but other than that perfect.
I have decided to use winter tyres once the avg temps hit 7 ish or below, and that has made it more sure footed both in the dry and cold, and big difference when its wet, typically been using winters last 2 years between Dec/March ish and we've not seen any bloody snow like the years before lol

Im runing a c63 all year round.dont let crap weather steer you away from something so pleasurable as driving a well sorted car(any i mean).
I thought simillar way as you thinking i will put it away for winter(got a second car),but i thought that cars are meant to be driven.so just ease off the loud paddle and you will be fine.i got lsd on mine but no winter tires and still went up on a snowy road with lets say 10° gradius with no probs.got some speed at the bottom of it.2nd gear all the way keeping throttle at the same level all times and i made it.
i had an m3 before the amg and it was worst because it had a bit wider tires and not much torque compared to the c63.
mine is also remaped to about 520bhp so more power wont corrupt drivability in any conditions if you manage it accordingly.
GO FOR IT
Ps:i also live in uk
and its factory tiresokohama but thinking to change when due to michellin ps

I run mine in the winter in Toronto (where we get plenty of white stuff) on proper snow tires (Hanhook i*cept), and combined with the stock LSD and traction control it handles beautifully.
Don't be shy about RWD+power in the winter.

If we can drive these in proper snow with blizzards during our winter months up here in Canada, I am sure you will be fine with it on the 'wet' UK roads.

Using the C all year around here in Montreal, it's very very manageable. Snow/Winter tires are a MUST though.
If you're in the UK, you'll be more than fine with winter tires.

At least you didn't have to deal with the coastal flooding that affected the nantucket area. We should all count our blessings for that one.

Totally fine for me in Montreal winters. I just had an LSD installed and it feels even better. I added a few heavy bags of sand in the trunk for added weight. You'll definitely be good to go with winter tires.

Now I feel compelled to also post up a picture of an AMG buried in snow. To be fair, this was two years ago when we got 34.5" here in Connecticut. Mass. got way more snow the last couple of days...

Quebec city here. We got about 170cm of snow this winter so far and the coldest temp so far was -34.6C. Car is great in the snow, but I do have a LSD and Hakka8 studded tires. You must drive accordingly, just today in 4th I buried the throttle and the rear got loose. But it is totally and easily manageable.
Winter in UK? We call that fall over here.
A good set of winter tires and a LSD and you'll be fine.

Square winter setup + judicious right foot = winter success.
