KW V3 making noise
Hey guys
I had my brand new coils installed earlier this month and after a few days it developed a noise.
My car is making a squeaking/creaking noise when turning the wheel
Does any one else experience noise from their coils. Also any suggestions would be appreciated

I installed my KW V3 recently as well on my 2012 and I get the same noise when turning. It is very distinctive and hard to mistake for any other kind of creak or scraping noise. I also got it after installing H&R springs on my 2010. It is the bearings or matting surfaces in the upper mount that bolts the coil-over to the shock towers. They are plastic and need to be replaced if you want the noise to go away. They are attached to the bottom of the steel plate used to hold the strut to the shock tower. Not sure what happens to them but it seems they don't like being taken off the stock strut and reused. Perhaps handling them allows a little road grit to get into the matting surfaces causing the noise you hear. They are a weak link and I have read of people having issues with them and having to replace them more than once especially with H&R coil-overs but not sure if it is that or just the part itself.
I am planning on using K-Mac adjustable strut mounts on mine so I have not bothered with the stock mounts yet. I might have a closer look at them when I install the K-Macs. I did turn mine too see how they felt when I was installing the KW and they did feel a bit gritty. Perhaps the lowered setting places a bit of a side load on the bearing surfaces that causes this scraping noise when turning the wheels.
You will need to replace them if you want the noise to go away. How long they will last noise free I am not sure. Best to deal with it as I am not sure what happens if they fail.

Have the same noise with H&R coilovers, installed the coilovers when the car had 5k miles so I'm pretty sure it has nothing to do with "wear an tear" but only time it really happens (in my personal experience) is when I back out my driveway (or very low speeds)but once I start driving i don't notice it

It seems to vary from install to install. Some never hear a noise. It must vary with age and driving conditions such as dust, dirt and salt on the road in the winter vs cleaner environment, no winter driving and garage kept. It does happen in quite a few cases as reported online.

I looked back at my receipts and information, I had only 1500 miles on the car when I had the coilovers installed, the car was always garaged and never in snow/salt and the coils always creaked so I wouldnt be surprised if its a result of oem material and the aftermarket parts not working well together..
I guess the advice to everyone would be to not worry about it, but if its bothersome get the parts you mentioned replaced

I had similar squeaking on new KWV3s. It was the rear when driving slow over bumps (not related to turning).
My installer said it was chatter caused by a dry spring. They fixed it in 20 min by applying some lube.
