Low miles between oil change. Is the change necessary?
I just purchased a CPO C63 last week and it's calling for an oil change on the dash in 50 days already. I pulled the service records and it's showing in September that it will have been one year since service.
The dealer I purchased it from assures me that they just renewed the CPO last month and they checked everything and all looks good and I shouldn't need to get an oil change yet. They advised me to just reset the service indicator.
I'm also curious here because I'm sure I have to keep up with the service for the CPO to stay good. I got the number for their service manager so I could call him for more details if I need to.
Anyone have any thoughts here?

Well you should have negotiated for them to change the oil as a condition of buying the car. Not sure why a dealership (mercedes?) would sell a car that close to a service trip either.
I would get the oil changed regardless.

i believe he is stating he bought the car 1 week ago as a CPO and the service light just came on.
Mercedes should have changed the oil as part of the CPO I would check the dipstick see if it looks fresh. if in doubt just change it.

Ask the dealership for the CPO service records. As long as you have a record saying the oil was recently changed (I'm assuming the dealer is saying it was changed a month ago), then you're good to go. Otherwise, just change it. Easy DIY as well.

However this ends up, if the engine containes 1 yr old used oil regardless of miles on the oil change it.
I've been told (but do not have the analysis to show) that the oil becomes acidic from the little exhaust gas that blows the rings that in time it will cause damage to the aluminum engine components.
Buy yourself a mityvac and change it yourself. Very easy process but be aware that vacuuming the sump still leaves 3/4 qt in the oil cooler.

It is always recommended to change your oil once a year at minimum, regardless of miles driven during the year.
You will need to change the oil as per MB's schedule to maintain your warranty.
