Possible to retrofit MCT to older 7speed Auto box??
Hey guys,
Trying to figure out if it's physically possible to retrofit the newer MCT internals to the older 7speed box?
Are the physical housings he same between the two? If it just needs new internals, how much would the conversion cost in parts & labor.
Lots of questions with very few answers out there it seems.
Any help is appreciated

2014 E63S; AMS 100 octane ecu tune; edok tcu tune; BB intakes; dyno tuned
Yeah you don't want the mct

If it needs a rebuild just get a Weistec
Bulletproof kit with a TCU tune and your all good no need for the MCT.
Or looking for quicker shifts then just get the TCU tune.

Weistec does a tcu tune I read it wrong I thought he didn't want mct and wanted the older torque converter trans mct is a better trans

However, if I can get MCT level performance & blip out of the 7G without any of the terrible throttle lag everyone complains about I would definitely consider it.
Does the Bulletproof transmission itself also improve shiftinf speed and performance as well even without TCU and valvebod? (Obviously I would do both but I am curious just how far you can push the 7G if I go "all out"
Other than doing high flow cats and full Carbon brakes on it the car is pretty much maxed out, its just the transmission that is the weakest link at this point, and if I plan on keeping it any longer with 88k miles on the clock I figured it times to refresh/upgrade the transmission anyways.
Any input is appreciate from those who have actually performed the bulletproof tranny + Valve body + TCU tune

Totally understand - I have an SLK55 with torque converter and a C63 with MCT. Would love to have an MCT in the SLK too!

I did do a full performance rebuild on an older 722.6 grandfather clock 5-speed with not TCU tune and was astonished at how much the shifting performance improved but putting in more clutch packs and removing the slop. So it does make sense. I am just wondering how car the auto technology can be pushed bc the new autos in the new generation cars are so quick it's hard to tell if they are DCT or not sometimes.

I think the full bullet proof trans is unnecessary unless you have high power mods like the stage 3 supercharger. I am doing a stage 2 build and from what I've read and been advised, the tcu/valve body is plenty. Is your car tuned? I remember having throttle lag before i tuned the car.

I agree with Akmatic63 there isn't really a need for the bullet proof unless its slipping a little already or you have a blower on it, I would start with the tcu and valvebody tunes you can always do the full build later if needed.
and Merc63 has a built one re is the best for the advice on how the shifting is

Retrofitting the MCT to a non MCT car might be a lot of hassle and $$$ !!
Not too sure if it is possible but as mentioned starting with an improved 7G by TCU tune or bullet proof would be you best approach.
