Rear Fender Wheel Arch Lip
I hated these... but need it badly cause the Ventus V12 275/30/19s are rubbing. Been using this size and no problem with other brands, I think the ventus are kinda square on the sidewall, Im scared that it might ruin my vinyl wrap so went ahead and bought these on ebay for $75 a pair. I wrapped it, and so far its holding on, at least its easier to wrap this than the whole rear fender. Its growing on me now.....Im kinda liking it! Lol

2 questions.
How exactly are stuck on fender guards supposed to prevent you from rubbing?
The blue contraption on your doors are interesting. is it a home made door ding guard?

Thats the noodle float and yes its a home made door ding device.....$1.99 at walmart...lol.
I used to put magnets inside, took it out cause I got paranoid, it might raise the wrap.

If that's the case, there's not much to roll and you run the risk of accidentally pulling the fender which opens up a huge can of worms...

Either rolling or pulling the fenders is no big deal whatsoever if done correctly. My 285's run wider (more like a 295), and even they fit fine with just a roll.

However, I've come to realize the risk of cracking paint just isn't worth it to me no matter who's doing the job, myself included.
To each is own, though. Good luck!

I'll admit that I've got a bit of cracked paint right along the edge underneath, but it was touched up and is not noticeable. I think if I had given the guy more time to do it, that it would've turned out fine. Many others have done it without cracking.

So....maybe Im being obtuse here....but I dont see how those possibly help with rubbing.
Or is it that they don't help with rubbing but help with your concerns re tire rubbing directly against the wrap?
BTW if you do have someone roll your fenders, do NOT get it done at the same shop that did the blue pin striping.

Thats a good question.... first of all, i hear its rubbing... and when I run my fingers in the fender, i see black stuff, only on the part where I put the arch lip... but how come I only rub when car is fast on a turn or curve, so to answer your question, im not 100% sure if its inside or outside......

BLKROKT has explained why it only happens under load.
The question remains as as to where you are actually rubbing. Your tyre residue is at the location of the arch lip but that is also consistent with the guard and rear skirt internal join lips - that is where it would land when flung outwards. I did not clearly identify the rub point (rear left for my R hand drive car) until I removed the wheel and had a good look inside the wheel arch. I saw that the panel join lip had been rubbing so i hammered it flat and no more rubbing.

^ that joint (rear quarter to rear bumper) is exactly where they all rub first. Every single time.
