Comand/AC/Gear Lights Power Issues
Hey guys,
I've been having an issue with my COMAND system recently where the system will tell me it's going to shut off, and sometimes does shut off, if I don't start the engine in 3 minutes/10 seconds. I thought at first it was a fuse that was going and not giving the "engine on" signal to the COMAND system but not it's starting to affect the AC. On a cold start the other day, the AC did not come on at all until about a minute in; no lights, no response. Once it did come on it would fade in and out depending on engine load (accelerating = more air, decelerating = less air). I've also started to notice that the gear shift lights are lagging to come on... something they haven't done before.
I found this thread on a similar issue (https://mbworld.org/forums/c-class-w...o-problem.html) but it doesn't seem like the same fix.
Could it be my alternator starting to go bad? Fuses? Or is it really a voltage control module that's going bad?
Let me know what you guys think!
Thanks,
Eric

Update: It ended up being a loose connector between the battery and one of the SAM units. That particular SAM unit had gone out some 9 months ago (after that deer tried to take away my beautiful car). It is believed it could have been damaged by the deer or during the replacement.
ANYWAY, the connector on the SAM end was damaged. Repair was done to the connector and we're good to go!
Hope this update helps someone in the future.

Command issues are apparently not rare. In my case the system doesn’t boot occasionally. The problem is intermittent so more difficult to find. Car is at the dealer having the software reloaded.
