w215 Maintenance and Repair Parts

Hello all! I apologize in advance if the below information has been discussed on previous threads. Before I start my rant and sharing some info I have questions and looking advice. Other then Pelican who do you recommend to get w215 parts at a better price? Is there a website or tutorial on setting up and using MB SD software and computer? Has anyone repaired then own v12 ignition coil? What the common part failure from code p301, p302 and p303?

I'm new to forums and Mercedes. I own my first Mercedes and it's a 2002 CL600. I'm always on a budget but wanted something nicer and newer than my usual cars! I am LOVING her so far. The stance, ride and power are amazing! My greatest concern was cost of preventative maintenance and repairs so I've been doing LOTS of reading and some purchasing.

The biggest complaint I tend to see for the w215 is the ABC system and ignition coil. Two great deals I have gotten so far are Amazon has 5 liters Pentosin Hydraulic for $78. I'm in the process of owning a MB SD Star v2015.07 complete set for under $500. I won the D630 and Multiplexers on eBay; I'm still waiting for the multiplexer both for under $400. I got the software from odb tool U.K.

My next adventure is attempting repairing an ignition coil. I've seen Master Rebuild Tech offer to rebuild your current v12 coil for $674. To me, that means they can be fixed. I have a used coil I got for $100 on the way and will hopefully start taking it apart next weekend. I'm hoping I can get it apart with my heat gun and iPad tool. I'm open for suggestions.

Howard repaired his coil pack here:

https://mbworld.org/forums/s-class-w...2003-s600.html

That should answer a lot of questions that you even thought of yet.

The coil pack repair kits are called Mercedes ignition coil cassette. I will probably try one some day soon enough.

Thanks Nick! Great information.
I have seen the cassette one eBay but haven't seen or heard of anyone seperating the plastic cover. I assuming it has to come off to attract the MOSFET chip to the cassette.
