The housings in the link aren't the correct ones, but the correct ones WE need are coming soon... Hopefully

Will the driveshaft have to be upgraded at that kind of power? What else would need to be done to get that package?

I don't believe the drive shaft, however it could snap. I know the motor should hold it. These are heavy cars to move off the line. The TRANS for sure would have to be done, Injectors and as far as cooling goes I have that covered. Once you play with those #s its hard to guess what could go wrong.

Yes Chrome Olly or better yet Carbon Fiber Drive Shaft will be a given.. etc etc gotta $$$ to play gents.. These rigs are unique, & what keeps bringing me back from edge of selling is a 1000-1200 whp beast w/rwTQ that'd make a Cummins turbo diesel shard itself... (Talking race 109 tune or E85 to see those types of #'s on new gt35's)

Should I keep on going with this build, car is priced at $22,000 for sale. I don't think I can go lower than that.

Yes, it's doubtful that you will find a buyer at that price any time soon. You're asking CL65 money for your CL600. Granted, it is very nice with mods but I would buy a newer 65 for a similar price.

I think a CL65 with same mods would cost around $30,000 ++++ or so? no?

You really don't get much money back for mods. In fact, it will scare many potential buyers away. It would be hard to say "never raced" or abused. The abuse part is subjective but the race part is not.

I could easily get a CL65 for $22 to $25k. The CL65 would be newer with a better nav, better brakes, larger displacement, forged internals, and built in sat radio. The 600 would need to be around $10k less with the mods for me to jump in.

I'm not knocking your call at all. It's awesome. Just sharing what a potential buyers rational would be in this situation. I sold my 2003 CL600 over 7 years ago and absolutely took in in the shorts too. Keep it and modify it to your preference but don't expect that it will add much to the worth of the car.

True. I've seen some crazy low mileage perfect SL65's sold around $40k.. One with 56 to 60k mileage feel lucky to get mid 30's. In another 6 months to a year, it will be in the high 20's to low 30k range. The depreciation really stings on these cars.

I have time to sell I will not give a car like this for market value, the right buyer will come along and I already had offers for $20,000 on the car which I skipped on. There is a large interest on the car I get PMs here and on other forums about the car every day the only problem is its all questions and nothing solid. I will figure it out and see where to go from here, maybe it would be best to keep and own a 1000+ HP CL in 2015.

I feel you man, don't worry these cars just need a specific buyer. Advertise and you will sell and if you don't sell who cares you still got a bad *** car.

I think the thing to realize in both the 2005 sl65 and the 2003 cl600 you are dealing with a 10-12 yr old car/platform. Both models have been updated twice, making the body style less and less desirable or current to those looking to maintain some type of status symbol. The interior technology in only 10 yrs makes my CL seem closer in age to my 1979 Coupe de Ville than to my 2013 Accord commuter. Its not up to us to decide what we think its value should be or base it on what cars they are still faster than. If an older car is not the premiere model, or equipped with the the options people are looking for they will sit. This CL600 would have be for the person who really loves the look. the money time and effort may not be appreciated by all. I'm not trying to bash, but the mph and trap is also off from being a 10.xx car. There are tune only 65s who have ran 10.7-10.9x over 127 mph. As mentioned you could get these cars with similar miles for close to, or under $30k. Also, I would expect the W216s to drop in price over the next year as current owners or leasers will want to step into the S Coupe to have the latest and greatest. Who knows where the value of these cars will go? Our cars will remain in low demand and sadly they are only worth what they sell for. Good luck with what ever you guys choose to do.

Agreed. I still won't give this car away, it's worth more to me than giving it away at a very low price. 65s are going 10.7? How many of them have gone this fast ? A handfull only. Plus these are 2 dif cars Im loosing about 50-70rwhp from the turbos alone vs the oem 65s. This is why you look at 600 category and I think for a 600 car is mighty quick.

I wouldn't give it away either, I was only trying to compare, price to power and options. Your car is at the top of its game for a 600, super cool weather and a sick 60 ft may get you that run. As far as 10.7s some of the newer tunes that have been massaged over the years have been picking up power, trimming ET and gaining mph. There are only a few, but then again there are only a few trying to race these cars. A bigger build will be cool, but be mindful of the drive train's limitations. Also, realize an SL65 will be cool, but as a newlywed, a CL can still be used as the family grows. The back seats helped me keep mine in the family!!

Market value is around 15k for a 2003 CL600. 20k is well above market and reflects a good recuperation of your modifications. I initially passed on some offers that were not there two months later. It ended up costing me around $3k.

I hope you get what you want if you decide to sell. In my opinion, you should keep and push forward with new turbo's so you can have the fastest and quickest CL600 on the road. Either way, keep us informed.

Kamil, the dif in turbos from cl600 to cl65 is FAR from 50-70 whp.. Hartmut owner of Renntech swapped 65 turbs onto his then sl600, ALL he gained was 20 whp.... the differences in 65/600 are vast, ability to run higher boost on 65, CAM's more aggressive, bigger fuel INJ, obvious half liter displacement.. The list goes on... Billet turbo swap nets about 20 whp more on 600 than same Billet swap on 65's... The bottleneck on going further w/Billets is the tiny stock Manifolds.. Hence Speedrivens versions are more akin to set shorty headers....Think about it.

Most people willing to pay above market price are buyers who are financing - they are thinking the monthly payment is only $50 more for a cooler looking car than a stock car

But as 2015 fast approaches, this car is getting too old for many banks and credit union to approve for financing . Most have a ten year cutoff some 12

Once the bigger turbo kit goes on motor has to come out anyway to get everything sorted, bigger injectors are a must. Depending how much boost and power you wanna make fuel is key innthe car, I would love to build an E85 setup with huge injectors and remove the suspension to swap it for a coilover kit and change out the rear end. car would fly

Correct, or someone that has some cash laying around and is looking for a project. Its hrd to nust buy a built car and enjoy it, at least for me. I always try to throw something in it to make it my own. All cars I owned were all modded on my Previous SL55 I found a buyer tht paid me what I paid for the car with 2 years of driving it. I don't want or look forward for someone paying me back all my money I put innthis car but if you sit down and do some math it would cost a lot of money to replicate this car. I think my $22,000 price is cery fair, I deal with Penfed which is a credit union that gives loans on any year cars. Most banks/credit unions wont touch anything thats 10 years or older like you said.

We will see what happens I just mentioned on here tht the car is for sale I have a sale thread on the forum and will keep this thread going on the build if it does. I got a bunch of great input and ideas from members on here and hopefully if I keep going with this car I can take the V12 TT further than anyone else.

Question about headlights:

Is this just housing work, or have the outsides been lightly tinted as well?

Thanks in advance!

You've done incredible things here!

Just the Housings have been re done, the lens has not been touched its factory clear. It gives it a very unique look and looks amazing in person. A lot of people ask me if the lens is dark but it just looks like that since everything inside is black. Here is a better close up picture of these.
