2006 CL55 AMG A/C blowing warm air
Hello MBW comrades. Yesterday I picked up an 06 CL55 AMG. While checking it out I noticed the temperature was set on "Low" for both driver and passenger and cold air was venting out. After raising the temp. to 70, the air wasn't cold again and remained warm thereafter. Under the hood, the A/C lines were cool to the touch and water beading up on them. While the dealer was preparing the paperwork I informed him that the A/C stopped blowing cold air through all the temperature ranges, regardless if on auto or manual settings. The little red A/C light on the passenger side climate control is on and won/t shut off. He sent it up the road to his mechanic for a charge. It came back without improvement. The under hood A/C lines were now hot. Today having my mechanic check if compressor clutch is engaged and check charge. Is the passenger side climate control A/C button w/red light able to shut off? The light remains lit. Appreciate any/all wisdom.

When I had this issue, it was the sensor located behind the center upper dash HVAC duct.

Replaced mine (SL55), sensor is in the dash. Had the same red light that would stay illuminated. Willing to bet you have the same issue and the sensor is located in the same place.

How to replace a/c sensor?
Thank you both very much. My 03 Jaguar S-Type R presented with similar problem and remedy.
Since you both replaced the sensor, would you be able to guide me to do it myself. I'm handy with repairs? Plus: Name of sensor, Was the sensor ordered through MB? And how much?

I cant remember the name of the sensor but, its the only one associated with the AC and the red light staying lit that is located in the dash. I had mine changed by Patrick @Mercedes master tech in Pompano 954 934-9000

The sensor I had go out was the Evaporator Temperature Sensor, part #2208300772
This is the E.T.R. sensor which senses the cabin air temperature at the evaporator.
With that said, I believe the 2006 uses a different part number as the above part # states 2001-2005 CL (W215) compatibility.

More information and some resolution
Visited Benzworld forum for a/c diagnoso and repair info.: simultaneously press charcoal filter and rest buttons. This will cause a/c screen to pull up faults with codes. Code was for "0" a/c charge (empty). To clear fault/code(s): push in the left (driver) automatic climate control button then the right (passenger) climate control button. If comes up empty then great. If posts code(s) then more work to do.
After clearing code the constantly on little red a/c on light went out and was now able to be turned on or off. So: in went 3 cans of charge. With the fan on high and "Low" setting on both driver and passenger climate control stations: she blows cold...but hot if anything above "low" setting. Guess more to go.....
