Anyone else have throttle-cut during a burnout???

On a recent visit to the local 1/4 mile track, the car refused to allow me to do a burnout in Dyno Mode. It felt as though it would cut throttle when I attempted, and also the car wouldn't allow me to manually place the car in 1st. It also seemed to go into a sort of limp mode.

After taking it out of Dyno Mode, it allowed me to place the transmission in 1st, but a real burnout wasn't possible. It would keep cutting throttle when I tried to power brake.

As a remedy I had was to drive around the water and just floor it. I'd then back up almost to the water and repeat. This seemed to help a couple times, but it's way less effective than a traditional burnout at heating the tires.

I spoke to Tony at Buckhead Imports (BIP) and thinks it could be related to something as simple as the fuel level being so low that the car cuts the throttle.

Any thoughts on the matter??

What's your thoughts on the cause? My CL used to do some great burnouts resulting in a best of 1.60 sixty footer. Now I'm lucky to see mid 1.6's.

Do you have a TCU done to remove or raise the torque limits high enough? Only issues I had was if I didn't keep in in manual it would freak out and need to be keyed off to reset. It didn't like a hard launch in regular drive.

The aftermarket TCU has been in for a while, and the problem is a recent development. I have a retune going in later this week. At that point I'll give it another shot.

Have you tried just disconnecting the battery for 30 minutes to reset adaptive learning? I neer have a problem spinning the tires in dyno mode but my gosh he computer hates using the line lock if not in dyno mode.

I never tried disconnecting the battery. I'll give that a shot if it persists after the revision.

Mine does it too. I just let the tires do a slow burnout and all is well. Yes it's hard to do John Force burnout but I have just had good luck doing 10mph ones.

Out of curiosity, do you both happen to have the same aftermarket tune?

My problem surfaced out of the blue. I'd been doing fantastic burnouts with my Buckhead Imports tune for weeks before the fun came to a sudden halt.

Update:

Leaving the track the other day I decided to completly fill up the gas tank. Today, with traction control off I tried a burnout and got throttle cut. I did a throttle reset and still got throttle cut on a traction control off burnout. I then placed the car in Dyno Mode and gave it another shot. Problem solved, and the sweet smell of burning rubber has returned. The car smoked the tires like a pig on a BBQ.

I don't know for sure what I did, but added fuel and throttle reset may have been the solution. Take your choice. At least that's what worked for me.

Keep in mind, I didn't touch the traction control button at all when I engaged Dyno Mode. This might be important.

You fixed it! Traction control on the dash is really only a higher limit of wheel spin before it interferes as you already know. Its not a true traction control off button. Dyno mode is the only way to totally remove any interruption. As long as its working, or in this case not working that's the good part.

If I turn my 06 in dyno mode the Trans will go in limp mode and get stuck in a gear if I drive any distance in dyno mode.

I'm going to take mine for a test drive tonight in Dyno Mode and report back. I only confirmed it would do a burnout last night. I'm really going to be depressed if mine acts the same way as yours Tim. I just assumed last night that if I could do the burnout the it would drive fine. Maybe not.

Just did a test drive in Dyno Mode and all is well. Car drives fine and will again perform a burnout.
