305/35/19 for cl55 amg.?

I've seen all of the threads on here about different tire sizes and what fits and what doesn't, I have just been waiting to get some tires untill I tore the car apart..
So now i have the tires off and I figure it's time to get some 305s.. im thinking Michelin ps2s but not sure yet..
Right now the tires are 285/35/19 and i feel like I've got plenty of room..
Pictures are with abc lowered all the way.
I'm wondering if anyone has any personal experience
running 305/35/19 on a cl?

My rear rims are 9.5
Im Not so much asking if it is the correct way to do it or if I have the correct rim size, I know I should go with something wider, but that's not an option for another couple months.
I think I may be better off with a 305/30 in stead of 35, but I don't want it to look small..
I'm ready to order them at the tire shop tomorrow, I won a 400 gift certificate at a raffle the other day, lucky me.
Let me know what you guys have run!
Thanks
Kenny

I'm on the same quest. Stock 19" wheels..want 305's. Going to purchase new wheels: 19x11" rears to accommodate wide tire. Want black wheels with a brushed aluminum outside ring.

If you really want to see how much room you have, jack the rear of your car up using the rear differential, then start the car, put it in drive and let the tires roll for a minute or so, stop the tires, put it back in park, shut it off, then let the jack down. Your rear suspension will drop all the way to bottomed out. You may have to roll the car a foot or so without starting it to get 100% compression. At this time you can see exactly how much tire room you have at full compression.

When you start the car, you will get a red ABC warning that the car is too low. Just wait a few seconds and hit your ride height button. The car will go back to normal and the dash warning will disappear.

That's alot of tire, I can't see how it's not rubbing like crazy when you drive. I'd consider a 10mm spacer with longer lugs and drive in the raised position. I wish the M/Ts came in a 275/35/19 that would be great. That's a big heavy tire that will rub inside and out. You'll end up taking a chunk out of the inside based on the pic from below. You can get a pair of 18x9.5" knockoffs and run the 285s.

Not a chance! I've been running the tires for about 2 months now and they barely ever rub.

i drive the car with the suspension in the lowest position, with NO spacers, and this week I will be doing an inch drop via lowering Links.

I did have to cut plastics a bit but I don't mind.

when I bought the car it had 285/35/19 on the back and I still had lots of room all the way around on each side. hence the reason I decided to go bigger. I don't know why anyone would go smaller than a 285 on a CL as far aso knock off rims... what would be the point of buying the same width rim? And why would ib want an 18?

If anything, I would go with an 10.5- 11 inch wide, 19 inch rim with a different offset.. screw buying spacers, bolts and all that hassle lol.

if they rubbed, maybe, but naa.

as I said it may be to close for comfort for some people, but for me, this is strictly a racecar and I've had no problems so far so I have no intention on fixing something that doesn't require fixing..

FYI, you can run 285/35/19s all day with room to spare all the way around.. no need for knockoff rims, or 18s. I'm not down for looking at that huge *** ugly gap between the tire and the fender though. I'll post some pics when I drop it an inch tomorrow.

don't be scurred

I have been run 305/30/19s for the last few years on the street. With drag racing the quickest tire is the lightest narrowest one that holds the power. The picture of the inside looks like it's touching. If it doesn't rub, then enjoy. The 18" knockoffs off was to fit a shorter tire, other size options in 18". Generally speaking MTs run much wider, so a 285 is still meaty. That 305 is probably closer to most 315s and the height won't help your gearing besides the weight. If it's for the street, I can see why you went big, since nothing stick well with a heavy car and globs of torque. Enjoy!!
