Look on ebay they go for $45K and less all day long. The prices are dropping huge because of the new style coming out now. So $40K isnt to hard to find. Miles are close to 50K

The lowest price on a sold SL55 was $50,000 even. That was a 2004 with 46,777 miles.
The lowest active Buy-it-now price for an SL55 is $43,900. It's a 2004 with 78,220 (!) miles. Owner got his use out of that one, that's for sure.
The lowest price on a sold SL600 was $184,900. A low mileage Renntech '07, so not a good comp. No completed sales on any earlier model years.
The lowest active Buy-it-now price for an SL600 is $54,900. That's on a 2004 with 11,700 miles.

I'm looking too.....
I too am looking for an SL600. Actually I'm torn between an SL600 and CL600. Love the open air of the SL, but the CL is more in my price range and not too shabby. Either way, I have to agree with the other guys, $40,000 is just too low. I'm having a hard time finding a SL600 worth buying for 45-48. Granted some of the prices you see on Ebay, Cars, and Autotrader are very inflated and many of those people are either fishing or dreaming. With the economy being in the tubes, I think we'll see quality 45-50 thousand dollar SL600's within the next few months, especially once KBB and the like adjust their inflated prices. The car market will follow the housing market, once supply far outweighs demand, there will be those that have to sell hence falling prices. Of course, all of this is just my two cents and surely there will be those who disagree.

My $0.02--not that you asked--would be to check out the SL600 closely. CL600 is a good car but the SL with the top down on a gorgeous day is simply awesome.

There is a 2004 SL600 going for $45000 today on ebay and I almost bought a SL55 with 60K on it for $43K last month so they are in that price range. Wait till the 2009 comes out and all will drop $5K

2004 SL600 on ebay....
Ferraribuysell, I think you are correct. Unfortunately for myself, the itch has gotten the best of me. I was actually the high bidder on the car you noted on Ebay. I did a lot of research and the car seems tight. Carfax is clean and I will definitely be adding the extended warranty. Question for all.... I paid $45,900 for a 2004 with 44,000 miles, was this a good deal? Opinions? I know the miles are a little steep, but the way I figure, it will be quite a while before this car is worth much less than $40,000. On a side note, call me crazy but I can hardly wait to get a chip in this thing!!! I'll be sure to post before and after dyno numbers.

I think its one of the lowest prices so far but just the start of falling prices. I liked the car you won but it doesnt have the pano roof, which I think adds some value. The car was painted on drivers rear quarter panel, so check it out to make sure nothing major happened to it. Otherwise sweet car, chip it out!
