Pros and cons of this setup. I just bought rims but found a set that I like so much but they are 18x8.5 all around. While I must say it would be nice to have the same sized tires all around for rotation purposes I question how it would handle with 8.5 up front...anyone have any experience with this? Tia.

It won't handle as well as 17", I have 19" on mine, and I wish I had my 17". 18" would be in the middle.

I figured I guess my question is whether a 18x8 front 18x8.5 or 18×9 setup function better then 8.5 all around.

I have 19x8.5 all around. Handling should be fine. You'll lose a bit of responsiveness vs. 17's because of the weight but that width up front is not uncommon on 208s

Would you guys go with 18x235x40 all around on 8.5 non-staggered setup?

If you want the same tire size all the way around 235 would probably be ideal. Personally I would go 245/35 which is the perfect width for an 8.5 wheel. You'd probably rub a little bit at full lock with the front tires which is why I would suggest 35 sidewall/aspect ratio.

I currently have 245/35/19 up front and sometimes rub at full lock depending on speed.
