start up after 6 months
My 2003 CLK 430 has had the battery off for 6 months in storage. Is there anything I should do before and when I start it?

Surprised no one has responded to this post!
I assume by now you started the car, yes? 6 months dormant shouldn't have been much of an issue for the engine; really nothing special would have been required, but I'd maybe put some new gas ASAP and change the oil pretty soon... Did it puff a little blue smoke and then run fine? Inquiring minds want to know.

Again I assume that it started. To state the obvious, these cars do not like to sit, they need to be run. That said from time to time you might need to store it. If so I would recommend putting Stabil in the tank before you park jt to keep the gas in the tank, well, stable. You might want to consider starting the car weekly and letting it warm to operating temp. Youbwould want to put the battery on a trickle charger as the alternator won't be getting a chance to charge the battery while it's parked. If you are gonna leave it parked for more than six months you might also consider moving the car during your once a week start up or putting it up on jacks in order to avoid flat spotting your tires. Sorry that I didn't see your thread earlier.

The car sat for 6 months with the battery off ,it started fine. It was in Fla and I was in Canada. I did have a problem with the driver's window not going to the top . It would go back down when it got to a certain spot. Reprograming fixed it.
The car puffs a bit when it sits for a few days , and it is a fuel smell.
I owned 7 Vettes and the cars sat all winter in a heated controlled garage , so the Benz is the same.
