Arghh..stuck open sunroof

Hello all!

Opened the sunroof the other day and now it's stuck open. I tried the following:

press and hold button forward and rear for more than 10 seconds

removed the no. 9 fuse for 5 minutes

actually have the z-bar tool and tried to manual crank (clockwise), stripped it..

All of this with no effect. This is what it's doing, I can hear the motor when I press the button forward, it clicks, the window moves forward an inch, stops and goes back where it started. I hold button reverse, same thing...inch, stop, return.

Any other ideas???

When you say that it goes forward an inch...are you holding the button all the time? Can you press button...moves forward a bit..let go button...press again...moving it an inch at a time...try not to hold button until it reverses....holding for 10 seconds is only when you have it all the way closed. It sets the limit of how far to close.
....or have you tried that?

Yup, tried the incremental button hold. It won't creep closed inch by inch every time i move the button forward. It feels like the window senses something in front of it and won't continue. I made sure nothing was obstructing. Removed the covered liner top as well.

So i believe it's the motor...

Tried everything, even the key to the door handle while pressing the lock button. This in the past would roll up my windows and close the sunroof.

Time to find me a sunroof motor.

+1, sometimes when it looses memory you have to keep tapping the button to inch it forward to closed position.

Maybe time to pull out the headliner and re-do that in the process.

Did try the button tap but results were the same... It would creep an inch on the 2nd tap it would go back an inch. Basically just stuck on one inch increment forward and back. Found a used motor on ebay for $75 shipped. I'll post after I install.

It's a real pain to get the headliner out and service the sunroof. You'll probably destroy the fabric if you haven't replaced it yet. I can give you some tips to recover it if necessary. good luck.
