Transmission blocked and wont start
Hi all.
3 days ago my transmission locked it self in park at the gas station. Managed to unblock it with a pencil in the small hole and limped back home in second gear.
The engine would start without any problems. Messed around with resets and stuff and after pressing the dashboard reset button for a while with key in ignition, suddenly engine didnt start any more. Everything lights up but the starter does not turn. Battery is fine. Brake pedal is also suddenly very hard. No apparent humidity or transmission fluid in any connectors. All fuses are good. Gear display is one white block. While engine was still running I noticed that when shifting into d or r, the transmission jerked more than it normally does.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.

Have changed the brakeswitch a couple of years ago when the transmission blocked back then but I believe that if the brakeswitch is faulty the engine would still start.

First symptom I agree with Kenshaw sounds like brake switch. Second system may be ignition or key failure. Have you tried your spare key?

ok today I bought a new brake switch, installed it and that changed nothing.
took the shifter out and took that apart, not sure what to look for. Everything looks fine but dirty. Noticed that I could not remove key from Ignition without pushing the small mechanical rod.
How can I check to see if the electronics inside works?
regards
Kenneth

Ok its time for an update.
Bought a carsoft7.4 codereader that works. Also bought a used TCM with same numbers as original.
Exchanged the TCM for the new one and voila car starts but stays in park. Read codes and get error with solonoids. Read the resistance of the solonoids and all within specs. Reset error codes and adaptation and still stays in park. Error code communication with DME disturbed?
So I reconnect my old TCM and read codes form that, gearbox oil temp sensor defective and communication with DME disturbed. I reset codes and adaptation and car starts but stays in park. No new error codes but still Communication with DME disturbed?
I have changed the contact plate in valve body and the plug and oil.
Any ideas? Please:-)
