C63 507 AMG DA Car #19
The fish cake led tails are made from ( I believe) oem facelift housings. But they do not provide the bulb plates. So please factor in this extra cost. Maybe another am supplier includes the bulb plates.

Hi all. I'd like to replace the rear lights of my CLK500 2004 for the amg smoked ones. I know I do need the bulb holders but I got confused with this new info.
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=151051340233
The guy says :
FOR 2003-2008 MERCEDES-BENZ W209 CLK CLASS
2DR COUPE & CABRIO ALL MODELS EXCEPT THE MODELS THAT EQUIPPED WITH FACTORY LED TAIL LIGHT ORIGINALLY
Im quite newbie on these stuffs so how do I know if my car came with the factory led tail light? I think it didn't come like that ( only the front lights are led) . Is it true? Do I need to worry about that or just need to buy the bulb holders?
Regards
Ricardo

I don't believe that any W209's came with LED tail lights. These eBay sellers often refer to them as the AMG CLK55/CLK63 style, but there is nothing different about those models - they all use incandescent bulbs and the same part numbers as the CLK320/350/500/550.

Hi Rudeney. I think there are 2 types. You can see on the pics. However, Im not sure what Clk can accept the LED ones.
Led ones:

regular one:

Do I need the bulb holders or there is any other way to fit the lamps?

What I am saying is MBZ never made LED tail lights for the W209, so when these eBay sellers state that they are the "AMG style", they are just "selling" - the AMG versions of the CLK used the same tail lights as every other W209. LED tail lights for the CLK are strictly an aftermarket concoction. There's nothing wrong with that as I am sure they look nice, but they aren't what was used on the AMG models. And those photos - the second one is not even from a W209 - thats a W204 tail light.

Hey, wanted to update this thread too. I bought myself the fishcake123 version of these for X-Mas.
The notes about needed the bulb holder for 2003-2005 versions is WRONGO. I have no idea why it still says that. I got a set and have no use for them as a result. The LED ones look very much like SL500 LED tailights now. If you were using a regular 2006-2009 tailight with regular bulbs you would need it, but there is all sorts of stuff dangling out the back of these LED ones, so no place for the bulb holder to go.
Mine installed easily and do look great, but I just finished last noght so will have to update with longevity info. It is kind of weird that they don't come with any instructions whatsoever. I will say that they were really well packed. They were bubble wrapped and inside of a box. That box was then floating in styro peanuts inside another box. UPS would have to back over it to do any damage.
