Hi, so my 6-speed manual transmission was broken. Need to find another one to replace. Can't find any compatibility tables about engines->transmission. I know that mine gearbox model is 716.6xx. Found one from CLK270CDI, as i understand it also equipped with 716.6xx, but with different ratios. Will it fit to my CLK240, and also from dynamic/maxspeed perspective? Thanks in advance.

I imagine the gearbox is probably the same, re ratios, but the final drive would be the difference. The 270 is a more torqu-ier engine. But I imagine they're compatible. With the autos, the 722.6xxx, the 722.6 is the same, but the xxx is the torque rating of the box, iirc.

If you want to replace the transmission with same repeat same gear ratios and form and fit--you have very limited options.


The transmission is a 716.634 serial no 01 708286 with a part number of 203 260 42 01 and was used in one car and one van model


Watch out for the wagers who advise otherwise less you be back whining my transmission does not shift correctly

Thank you for replies. Yesterday tried to fit gearbox from 270CDi with number 716.649 and i failed. Shape of mount was a little bit different. In my country it is hard to find exactly the same car and i am trying to find similar gearbox. Today i will try to fit 716.638 from C230 kompressor model.

Finally, i found that there was 3 possible manual gearboxes installed in m car: 716.623, 716.634 (which i had) and 716.638. I also found that E240 (w210) also has 716.623 gearbox installed (one of possible). Today i succesfuly installed it on my clk. Thanks guys for help.
