Hey Guys,

Got the airbox put on yesterday and things don't seem quite right so looking for input. Has K/N airfilters in it.

Q's for those with 55K Airbox-csslwvr.jpg

1. The car now idles more like an America muscle car. Very deliberate engine sound "bah bah bah bah bah bah bah" very cyclical.
2. The car sounds like chewbacca while accelerating. Very "Gurgling" sounding. Less smooth.
3. The 'check engine' light has come on, I assume this was from messing around near the Maf but any other ideas.

I think my car is confused a bit currently since I have the quad exhaust and now the intake... going to get it tuned shortly and hopefully that would remedy. Is this new sound relatively normal or do you think their is something else possible wrong with this setup? I am just going to drive very easy until I have the tune but any thoughts would be great.

Sounds like the Air Box is not snug with the MAF. Did you use electrical tape, sealant, or a gasket to make a tight fit?

I used a silicon doubler. The radii are slightly different between the bottom of the y-pipe and the MAF so instead of using tape I used a silicone connector (which was pretty tight) and then reinforced the bottom portion with a metal tie. Here is a picture (click to zoom in).

Also the K/N were used from my buds e55 but they were pretty new, any chance they are messing this up? This airbox did sit around for a year but I doubt that matters..

Going to tinker with it more when I get home tonight, I'll update with any progress I might learn.

The hardest part will be driving home today and having to backdown from the 3 series everywhere which love to challenge me ever since I got my diffuser a few months back

There will be a different sound for sure because I had the similar symptom like u mentioned above but there is no check engine or anything like that on my set up . The car will run smooth after 20 or 30 miles . I didn't have the E55 intake like u have now but the C55 one and yes w the K&N filters too . When was the last time u cleaned ur Maf ? Yes its very important . Looks like I need to sell my E55 intake set up soon cuz I like the C55 one better

Here is mine

Hey thanks for the input. I don't know if it's going to auto adjust because I've already put probably 30+ on it with no change. Yea I considered the c55 airbox and tried to find a Renntech. The c55 is a nice balance of looks but I went pure performance with a nice deal on this e55 one. If things work I plan to paint the top of engine bay black and wrap the cover in come CF... but got to get it to work first

You see how much better the c55 fits naturally though, I had to dremel the cut out around the right kevlar tube and also where the oil filter goes.

Got my appointment with Eurocharged on tuesday morning for the tune, hoping to straighten things out before then. Sounds like a '57 chevy atm My buddy thinks it too will auto adjust but **** is wild atm lol

I'm not going to go into full diagnosis mode until Wednesday but I will keep you guys updated. I think the combination of my exhaust and the intake is causing problems together.

Monday - replacing my Y pipe with an X pipe
Tues - tune
Wed - tranny service and other service (going to have them check it all out)

CLK W208
Hi everyone, I just did this setup on my clk 55 w208 but had a question.
The air boxes have two clips under them on each side that clip in to the rubber brackets on the valve covers. The driver side clips in to both rubber brackets how ever on the passenger side only the front one clips in the rear rubber bracket sits way to low on the valve cover. Us this normal? And ideas? Does everyone have it set on only one bracket on the passenger side? Thanks in advance.

Hey guys,

Just a question, normally, how would you connect the Y pipe to the engine? I mean what would be the "correct" way ?

Does anyone know if these Kevlar inlet tubes

273 090 0082 Right

273 090 0182 Left

will work on a CLK55 airbox

If these are the wrong part #'s

Does anyone know the correct ones

Thank-You
