CLK door rattling issue FIXED
I found the issue with the rattling on the CLK doors.
I have a 2004 CLK 500 convertible and had the issue with the doors rattling over bumps. I looked at these posts to see how I can take the door panel off. After taking the door panel off I found that the door regulator screw is missing.
Please note: YOU DO NOT HAVE TO REMOVE YOUR DOOR PANEL TO FIX THIS ISSUE!!!!!
under the door there are two round rubbers. Take out the larger one and you will see a screw to hold the bottom of the window regulator.

You are either missing a #10 nut or a loose one.

put a metal washer under the nut.

Hope this helps

You ARE the man! Dude, I can't tell you how irritated I was getting with my car and that damn rattling noise coming from the driver side door. Once I daw your post I popped the large cap off and found the nut to be attached but very loose.
Question - the hole that the threads go through is obviously not round. What is the best position to tighten that nut?

This weekend I checked my driver side door and I verified that the source of that rattling I've been enduring all those years was a result of a missing nut and washer!
I couldn't find a nut that would work, does anyone have a part number or a description (I believe there are different thread types available) to use to find a suitable nut/washer?

I tackled this job this past weekend; I went to the hardware store and bought a M6-1.00 nut ($0.60) and it was a perfect fit! I aligned everything and tighten the nut, no rattle!
