Question Window Issue

Hey Guys,

My apologies if this has been answered before, but I am not sure how to word it, to get the proper results.

Basically, when I open the door, get in the car and close the door, the window tends to catch on the rubber strip and pinch it until I either roll the window down then up, or kinda bang the door.

I however noticed, If I open the door and roll the window up, it rolls up leaving about 95% leaving a gap, so when I close the door, it doesnt catch on the rubber, once the door is closed it rolls up the remaining 5%.

Is there anything I can do to rectify the issue.

Regards

Ebrahim

On my car, when you open the door, both the front and rear windows drop down a bit. When you close the door they go back up. That is so they seal correctly. But I've never known if this was a feature of coupes, or just convertibles. They way you describe it, yours is supposed to do that, but it is not doing it except when using the window switches. So it sounds like whatever triggers the drop when you grab the door handle is not working.

Hey Yidney,

Thanks for the response,

Exactly that, I'am not sure what is supposed to trigger the drop, but the drop doesnt occur or doesnt drop down far enough....because when I close the door the window goes up very slightly and the rear window goes up as well.

I read an article here about two adjustment screws at the bottom of the door, but I am not sure exactly what my issue is here.

Search for the steps to reset the windows control. It's like a re-calibration method.

Tried the procedure. Key to position 2. Roll down and hold 10 seconds then roll up and hold 10 seconds.

I'm lost.

Pull the fuse (#21 in the dash panel) for a few minutes to clear the door controller's memory, then do the window reset.

Hi,

Forgive me, but does the car need to be on, or the key in any specific position? and Where exactly is the dash panel with fuses?

Thanks again

#21 is for the left door, #22 is for the right door.

I think I have the opposite problem.

To fix a muted radio, I disconnected the battery for a couple of minutes and then reconnected.

Now the window drops by the 1/2 inch when I open the door (convertible) but when I close it again, it doesn't rise up. you can use the switches to raise it up, but when you are outside (after getting out) then obviously you can't. Locking the car via the fob doesn't raise them either.

I will try this recalibration, or is there anything else to check?

Recalibration did the trick.

My 2003 CLK 500 started doing the same thing. Been resetting the power window and seat by pulling fuse #22. Now that I have changed the battery, its still doing the same thing especially on hot days, 95F or hotter !! Any ideas what else could be causing this besides voltage problem?? Help please

mine is doing the same thing. CL600. rear window goes up and down, but the last tiny bit it moves to seal with the front fails. I have the battery disconnected now. I'll reconnect and see if that works. hope it's that simple, suspect its not.
