Purge Valve

Would you guys change the purge valve?
I can hear the tick-tick noise only when the hood is opened.

From my experience with my car and reading the forums, the tick-tick sound is normal especially if you can only hear it when the hood is open.

I do not recall this sound when the car was new.
Are there any serious impacts if I do not replace a defective purge valve?

The purge valves develop a loud ticking over time. Only answer is replacement if it worries you. Otherwise ignore it until you get an EECS (evapourative emissions control system) code. They can operate noisily for a very long time.

I never saw this malfunction in my display but this ticking noise started a few years ago. What would happen if this purge valve fails completely?
