cup holder trim
Probably a stupid thing to ask, but is there a replacement chrome ring for the main cup holder that I can order? Mine snapped in half and is peeling.
Thanks in advance.

Same problem here . . .
But whether you replace or repaint cup holder, how do you remove it in one piece?

A little different problem as the chrome ring is perfect but the 'soft rubber' part on mine was messed up when I got the car. I really didn't want to spend $100ish for a new one so I sanded it and re-sprayed it with matte black Krylon. Look like new.

The soft-touch surfaces do eventually disintegrate. Use a mild solvent like Goo-Gone or nail polish removed with a microfiber cloth to clean off the coating and you'll have nice matte plastic underneath.
The chrome ring itself can be remove. Just use your fingernail or a thin plastic wedge between the chrome and the matte plastic surround and it will snap out.

I'm with Rodney on this one. A little sanding and trying to get as close as you can to the surrounding interior color with a small can of Testors is the way to go. I know how detail crazy we all get with our CLKs, but this is one time I think the compromise is a good one. Check out a good hobby shop that sells military miniatures and they'll have tons of Pla spray enamel in neutral colors and earth tones in glossy and matte. Just remember to scuff the surface with a light sanding so the paint has something to bite onto.
I did it to the center dash vent rings in my beige interior and really like it...I may do it to all of them eventually. It's really kind of like debadging and dechroming in favor of blacking out an exterior.
I realize I t's not for everybody...but I like it.
