strange NEW vibration...stummped

Ive got a 2001 clk55 with 68k miles, its been lowered with HR springs and #1 and #2 bump pads. Ive noticed a "buzzy" vibration that comes on around 30-40mph that i can feel in the steering wheel as well as the rest of the car The strange thing is its not happening continuously.. any thoughts are welcome. Thanks

30mph is slow for a wheel vibration to start manifesting itself...unless the wheel is severely bent.

It could be a transmission issue. As far as I remember the glycol transmission issues was in the 30mph range and was linked to a buzzing sound.

AMG CLK55, 450 SEL (sorely missed), Holden Commodore SS, Nissan Navara (company car)
It may be a multiple of issues.
The steering damper could use replacing.
The steering box needs to be torqued to correct specs.
But what I found with my car was that the lower ball joints were flogged out and also caused inner tyre wear that I felt through-out the steering wheel and the front of the car.

I dont think its the coolant in the tranny (thankfully) since the level fluid level hasnt changed and i have the "good" radiator..

Ive been driving the car more frequently now and noticing that its comes on consistently at about 32-35 mph and after that its fine and something else to add the the pot is that under hard braking I have a vibration again in the wheel.. Im going to get it on a lift and see whats what.. I never had the steering box torqued, so that may be it, or not. Thanks for the reply's

You can see the steering gear bolt procedure here.

When it's on the lift, you may want to examine the flex disks.

A vibration while braking is typically brake rotors.

The steering damper is inexpensive. By the time you drop one side to see if it has lost resistance, you're one bolt away from replacing it.
