Back and now with W209 CLK55 AMG!
Howzit mbworld! Man I've missed this place and a CLK. Had to sell the W208 just after getting married and finally 4 years hence am back in the saddle with a W209 AMG version! WOW Happy would be an understatement.
Been reading up on some humorous threads - missing engine cover emblem (yep mine is gone), dipsticks (I literally lol'd pulling out the trans dipstick and it went *pop* just a plug cover) and of course the poser thread. If I could only get Homelink to work the circle will be complete!
Oktoberfest is coming up and I'll try to get some pics for ya'. Till then here's the engine cover without the naughty bit showing
Alooooha!

Oh for real haha! Was a red plug at left rear of engine where one would think the trans dipstick would be. I thought the engine oil one was at the front left? I haven't even begun to learn about this engine yet but waiting on the ebay svc pdf or whatever it is. darn storm heading our way so I'll have time to read at least

yeah right, logic would tell you "rear of engine RED cap tranny!" NOPE! thats the tube used to extract engine oil from - the RERAL tranny tube is the right of the tube about 4 inched shorter UNDER the air cover before the MAF that sits on top of the throttle! I made the huge mistake when I dropped my tranny pan and went to replaced the tranny oil that was in the pan and proceeded to dump 3 liters of expensive 20$ liter MB 134 ATF there only to put my car into gear and it going NOWHERE!! so, after some research here found out it was my engine I poured the tranny fluid into! Yeah! Talk about a noob mistake!!!! -- the REAL tranny plug top will have a either a black or red lock that breaks off - you must replace it each and everytime you access this tube so order a couple to have as spares

So the red cap is the oil extract tube (good, I have the mityvac oil extractor). I saw an oil dipstick for under $30 so if got one should be good just stick it in there? lol Chomping at the bit to do the oil (0/40w Euro spec) & filter!
edit: very confusing on dipstick. engine vs. trans, leave in or do not. happy the dash says level ok at least. engine filter kit on order. will get this done then do trans oil/filter and diff later. step by step.

About that new front half engine cover - of course it doesn't match, just a shade different (doh). Later on will remove the logo and superglue it to the old matching cover! Checked pics, the old cover doesn't match either so crossing this one off as done.

It was biology class today as well checking the air filters
I see the internal ribs you guys talking about that can be smoothed out. Save that for another day, still checking the car out.
update: after sweeping up the huge pile of fine dust am sticking with pleated paper filters for best filtration

Is it possible the car is on it's original plugs! Pulled a lower to check, looks pretty good for 106k but time to change all. I spy the exhaust manifolds and engine mounts as well heh heh but holding back the snowball.
Wet sanded and polished the head and tail lights (no pics), the third brake light strip too. Need to clay entire car it's almost hairy feeling even though looks like a million bucks.
edit: Bosch sets on order

Also adding to do: check a/c fill as cold but not ice cold. need to ID fill port.
gotta' be a cabin filter on this car too?
edit: found the filters online but have to double check 3#s for auto climate control version or not
