2004 CLK55 AMG phone system question

My car has 2 functional (they light up) buttons under the armchair lid, one has a wrench, another "'i" sign. Under them there is a covered plug, kinda like an old wall phone outlet, but bigger. What am I missing in my phone installation?

It was used for a proprietary MB cell phone...totally outdated now (and also then).

You can buy the cradle for the old phone system and install a bluetooth puck as its called. this will connect your phone to the sat nav and will allow the steering wheel controls to work on the phone as well as transfer contacts over.

Here is a good source for all kinds of mods...Steve has come to this country many times to do all kinds of upgrades. Send him an email. Ask about sick430's info about a "puck"

Sick430, have you had personal experience that this will work?

If you really want the Legacy system to work, search any post by Skylaw on this and our brother site. (telematics forums)

There is one service that satisfies the analog system and is fair in price if you wish to keep the car 100% original.

Most have migrated to touch screen voice nav heads that are up to date and programmable to a certain degree.

I utilize the nav head and android phone calls over a bluetooth MPOW with aux port interface.

It is recreational but if you want to run your business out of the cockpit then upgrade to an Alpine, Kenwood, Pioneer head.

Most are Apple oriented but I like open source capabilities of Google App Dev studio. It helps to know how com bus protocol works though. Apple is normally plug n play on these cars.

Cheers Gator
