Key won't work after tint removal
Wats up guys got yet another issue with my 2003 clk55 that's been lingering. After the tint was removed the key only worked if it was near the ir sensor on the door handle. Where it stands now Is it works fine intermittently and others not unless next to ir sensor. It works about 10% of the time. I've done a lot of reading and from my conclusion it is the antenna amp on the back glass. Just wanted some clarification from others or even other input. Also are there any fixes with this sort of issue? Maybe cleaning the electrical contacts or computer board? Thanks guys.

Update: I just removed fuse no 8 and heard a weird chirping sound Comin from the front passenger tire area I'm assuming it was the alarm because when I plugged it back in the alarm sounded.

First have you tried replacing the battery in your fob? Also I don't know about the 209 but the 208 had a controller/ant in the overhead light fixture near the windshield.

Pulled down the back portion of my headliner and it seems the ends of both sides on the amplifiers aren't touching the back glad I can push them up about 1/2 inch. My question now is what kind of adhesive can I use to glue it back to the glass if that's even possible. Seems also like if I push up on the amplifier the key works from inside the car. Any help would be appreciated.

I think I might have been wrong about pushing up on the amplifiers and getting them to work. I popped open the cover and could see the connections on the motherboard. It's still working intermittently so I guess the amp itself is bad? Sorry for the confusion guys, lol.

Man this car has a mind of its own. Since fiddling with the amps and other related wires, and also opening the black case to the amplifier and wiping off the contacts that contact glass it still wasn't working. I put back c pillars and o crap handles, I cleaned my entire headliner and a pillars and visors. Put everything back together and it still doesn't work 100% of the time but is working a lot more now. Wow smh. Anyway I'm just going to live with it, it's working pretty frequently at the moment.

Just keeping things updated its actually working more than not.i think it had to do with me cleaning the contacts on the pc board for the amplifier mounted on the back glass. I suggest for people to try it if at all possible to open the black casing and you can see the contacts on the pc board that contact the the inside of the black casing that contacts the glass. I simply licked my finger and wiped the contact on the pc board. Definitely worth a try if possible.
