Choice C63 Edition 1 or CLK63 BS?
I sold my 07 Porsche 997TT and am now back in the market for an AMG - or?. I know of a black 2012 C63 AMG Edition 1 coupe (1 of 100 for the USA) that's for sale locally for $57K. But, I also miss my 08 CLK63 BS. I've never driven a C63 AMG but I have owned a CLK63 BS. Is it a fair comparison? I've also heard the C63 has a punishing ride as does the CLK63 but that's okay because it won't be a DD.
Should I look at the C63 or find a clean BS? Thoughts please. Thanks

First, you need to drive a C63 coupe to get a feel for it, as its another animal compared to the CLKBS. Personally, if I were looking for a weekend fun car, I would go with the BS. The C63 is a fantastic car (I've owned two) but the BS is a step above IMO. It may not have the creature comforts of the newer C63, but a fun weekend car doesn't need them.
Test driving one might make up your mind one way or another

I've had a 996TT and a BLK BS and on track I'd prefer the Black Series. The power delivery was smoother and the braking was better despite the weight disadvantage. The TT had an advantage in AWD, but the CLK BS made me a better driver.
On the street, the CLK BS suspension was much more pleasant to drive.
Of course, you know all this and just want to get another Black Series, but do drive the C63 .... it may be great.

Go for the BS. I traded my BS for a C63 and I can't wait to sell it and get another BS.
My impression...The C is a good car. The ride with KWv3's makes it almost the same as the BS, with a tune its the same power, but the C just lacks personality. Its so boring, I want to like it as its a very practical car, but I just can't bring myself to get excited about it.
On the upside I daily the C (100mile round trip) and didn't in the BS, so its nice having one size fits all car, but if you don't need or want that, get another BS.

2008 CLK63 Black Series; 1978 Toyota Land Cruiser; 2015 BMW R1200GSA; 2003 Porsche 996 Turbo (gone)
Went from a 996TT to my Black. However, drove both the C63 and 507 Edition before taking the plunge on the Black. Like others have said, the C63 is a nice car....power, great sounds, new cabin tech (not high on my list...more about the driving experience), not to mention a new car warranty. That said, still didn't push all the same buttons the Black did for me. Think you've already made up your mind, so consider your decision validated...now pull the trigger and come back to the dark side.
BTW...Doug at SwitchCars in Ohio has another one in...8K miles/silver. Picked up mine from Doug...he's a stand-up guy.

AMG Edition 1 is Not For Me
Went and looked at the C63 AMG Edition 1 today but did not test drive it. My first impression was it looked very plain and the flat black "special Edition 1 paint" looked washed out and faded. It looked very similar to a wrap. Ironically the dealer also had a sign on it that said "do not run through a car wash, it will damage the paint." Now that's a sales incentive! The black rims also didn't do anything for me. Perhaps it was the whole exterior package that turned me off, it just didn't visually appeal to me so I passed. Then I looked at the new BMW M4 and an M6. Better looking cars but again no excitement. So, I'm back on the BS which IMO is still a great looking car after six years and again IMO, most cars today still can't measure up to a BS. Thanks for the link, I'll contact them.
