Yes both can be done. Buying a used OEM set may be a better option. Removing the power coating may leave abrasion marks on the metal surface, depending on how the person does it. Good luck!

'94 NSX,'99 NSX Z,'12 C63 Black Series (Prior: '07 E63, '08 CLK63 Black Series,'14 E63-S & 16 C63-S)
When you find a set, double check and see if the tires are original. I say this as a matter of keeping you safe. Many of the sets that have come available have still had the original tires from 2008 on them (including the set that I ended up buying).

Why does this matter? Because even if the tread looks 'new' or not in need of replacement, you do NOT want to drive on them. The tires are now 8 - 9 years old, and should have been replaced years ago due to aging and dry rotting. I drove on mine for a couple of months before noticing that (in addition to the tires being as hard as a rock), the actual tires began to split on the inside and outside edges. If I had not noticed this, the tires would likely have come completely apart at speed. You can guess how that would have turned out at high speeds on a highway.

Anyway....no matter what the person selling them says, if the tires are original, they are junk now, and will need replaced for safety. Take that into account when negotiating a price.

Also check to make sure that both front wheels match and both rear wheels match, since Mercedes used 2 different manufacturers for the wheels and randomly put both versions on the cars (even the same car). The only difference is in the inside of the wheel barrel, with one version having a step in the barrel and the other version being completely smooth. While its not a big deal for the front and rears to be different, you probably don't want the left and rights to be different. When I bought my car new, I noticed the difference on the inside of my rear wheels and had one of them replaced with a matching wheel under warranty.

Is the factory finish a polish or a paint or chrome
the car i am looking at the wheels are powdercoated black
i want to keep the whole car oem look for collectability
i can remove the powdercoat on the oem wheels but can i restore the oem finish.
i told the seller that the wheels are not stock and he is like well they just powdercoated black duhhhh
i am thinking of making an offer minus 13k for replacement of all 4 rims
