2016 or 2017 CLS?
#26
Hello. I am new to this forum and a band new benz owner ( 2106 cls550). I have been a bmw lifer and still own a 650i convertible. I was about to pull the trigger on a 2017 but I bought a 2016 cls 550 with 600 miles on it (designo diamond white metallic and black interior with anthracite leather fully loaded) for 15k under msrp, winter tires thrown in , my last months lease payment paid by dealer , and winter mats. Think i scored a great deal. Miles were put on from test drives at the dealership. Gotta love a motivated dealer in December! Cannot wait to pick it up and join the MB family!!!!

CLS400s are getting discounted because they are being discontinued. For 2017 there is only the CLS550. Also, CLS550s will probably see decent discounts through 2017 since its the last year. One other big plus with the 2017 is they get the new 9-speed transmission and the semi-autonomous Distronic is available.
The CLS400 is pretty weak. The V6 is a decent engine, but just does not have the umph of the 4.7l V8.
The big worry is that the 2018 CLS (if there is one) will likely NOT have a V-8 version. It will probably have the current V6 or the new I6 coming out soon.

I also want to point out that when you click on the Edmunds build and price it does not show the 400, only the 550 and AMG model.
