New to W124. 2004 E320 Wagon vs 1992 300E Sedan?
Hi All,
Let's have a fun thread here. The 1992 300E was the first Mercedes Benz that really caught my eye as a kid and I've always admired them to this day. It's just a classy looking car. My favorite is still the wagon in white with grey cladding color combinations.
So now that I have a bit of money to play with, I figured, this might be a great opportunity to get a 300E sedan for my daily commute. Ignoring any reliability concerns, how would a 300E sedan stack up against my daily driven 2004 E320 Wagon 4Matic? I've heard about the W124's legendary stability and build quality. In other words, how does a 25yr old hand built Mercedes stack up against a 12yr old automated assembly line Mercedes?
Factors to consider here are:
- High Speed Stability. My morning commute is 90+mph on the highway
- Acceleration. I'm doing 80+mph up a gradual mountain grade on the highway.
- Handling. Some downhill curves on the highway.
- Braking. My evening commute includes a lot of stop and go traffic. Sometimes short threshold braking sudden stops.
