I think it looks like cheese...what's wrong with the 3 pt. star?......looks a lot better than that. nice sales pitch about being elegant vs. sporty. cheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeese ! totally unnecessary!

I like the silver, raised star, but I got the DFW badge because it fits inside the
recessed area perfectly....and not like the $35 clones which are about .5"
too large. I found a FOB at the dealer which happens to have a raise star
insert which would fit perfectly within the flat badge so I picked it up and
have that on the project bench with intention of retrofitting. I realize some
folks like the plain white star for its historical, vintage connection. But it looks
somewhat boring to me.

I also have the same eBay $25.00 big clone. I hate it. It has all the problems that raymond described and I had to sand the part that contacts the hood, otherwise it could scratch the hood. I inserted a layer of pad between the fake emblem and the hood to eliminate the gap and to protect the hood.
I love the original raised star and would leave it on the hood, but for protection reasons, I have that stupid fake emblem on the hood, for now.

if I send you the hood ornament off my moms 93 ford taurus could you convert it and sign it reggie jackson? that would be hog heaven and I think it would make the car look kinda neat. I'm keeping my upright star on my car though.

But please move along... Repeated posts that distract from the topic at hand are not appreciated by those with an interest in modifying their cars and discussing it here.

I am more than happy to place my WHITE STAR Flat Badge in direct comparison with the "competition." I personally feel that the WHITE STAR in my work is considerably larger -- hence far more noticeable -- than the other piece. Not to mention that the other item is not custom-made by hand, nor is it serial numbered.
Opinions vary, of course. You be the judge...

Thanks for the compliment.
The difference is that the one on the right is simply a plug that fits over the hole left with the upright star is removed... no alteration required. My White Star Flat Badge has the entire mount area machined away so the larger WHITE STAR insert sits flat within a recess.

Hey, I think this is a great idea but not necessarily for everyone. I noticed someone calling it "cheeeeese" but I think its fine. I personally like to see the "Land, Sea and Air" emblem upright on my hood. It reminds me that I've chosen an automobile worth owning.
I wish you success on this venture and hope you sell a ton of them. Good luck and thanks to people like you we keep entrepreneurialism alive!

Nope. It's all I can do keeping up with requests for WHITE STARS...
Speaking of which, I'm currently selling WHITE STAR Flat Badges serial numbered in the #280 range. Those interested in a serial number under #300 should contact me soon at DFWdude@tx.rr.com

Nice piece. I might consider that as an option.
Some Gang banger or Hip hopper is probably wearing my original emblem around his neck on a chain, and has been gone now for 6 months. It was the standard upright stock issue on my 96 e-320.
Considered a Mack Dog, or a Jaguar , just to throw off the onlookers as a joke, but really would like the MB icon . I actually liked the upright emblem for it's gun sight appearance from the drivers seat, but don't want to see my hood damaged by the next two bit thief who wants another necklace, trying to rip it off.
What is the cost???

The price was around $100. E-mail DFWdude and he'll give you the scoop. Another reason his product is better than the cheap plastic ones is.. . .
After removing the cheap plastic emblem it had damaged the paint. Leaving a ring shaped blemish around the indentation on the hood. I removed it the best I could with some light compound and re-polished it before installing my white star.

Thanks. It is a consideration.
Luckily I have no paint damage this time. Next time could be a different story. It is slightly higher priced than the "stock" alternative. Not bad though.
In the spring I plan on doing some cosmetic mods. Including rims in black and blacking out the grill. as well as tail lights(to a degree). This badge would add to the sleek look as well.
In the spring, then.
