Exclamation NEW Mercedes WHITE STAR Flat Hood Badge for W210 Sedans!

Introducing the WHITE STAR Flat Badge replacement for the OEM upright hood stars. This part will fit any Mercedes-Benz that uses the #210 880 01 86 upright star -- including the W210 Sedan -- because it is made from the same OEM part.

One can swap between the WHITE STAR Flat Badge or the OEM star in seconds… Install the traditional star for formal occasions, and substitute the WHITE STAR Flat Badge for a sporty, everyday silhouette.

I make these badges in my machine shop, mostly on the weekends. After disassembling the OEM star, I machine the socket required to accommodate a legacy White Star insert I created myself. I cement this insert in place, then cast a tan plug, which holds the mount lock in place, and reassemble everything.

As a result, the WHITE STAR Flat Badge is a hand-made, limited production item. Each one is signed and serial numbered, and comes with a matching certificate of authenticity, carrying the same serial number. There are a handful of these currently in circulation in the US. I plan to make these only as long as there is demand.

If you've kept your W210 until now, you've probably had your fill of the only option -- the plastic SLK Badge that fades in the sun, and sits on top of the hood. The WHITE STAR Flat Badge sits within the divot (like the OEM star), so it is more flush with the hood.

So you now have the WHITE STAR Flat Badge to consider as a unique alternative.

If interested, send me an e-mail at the DFWdude@tx.rr.com...

Here are a few photos of the WHITE STAR Flat Badge on various MBs, borrowed from members who have shared...

You might think this mod only works on the current W211. But it's good DFWdude, that you remember it fits equally well on the W210. W210 owners need love, too...

This is very tasteful. I've oftened thought about a mod like this--somehow the stand-up hood star looks a bit out of place on an AMG-ed W210 car.

So do we get a trade-in, or "core" discount if we send you our OEM stars?

You might want to ask the seller. There had been some previous discussion of this.

I can receive your older star and adapt it into a WHITE STAR Flat Badge. I also touch-up minor blemishes in the blue laurel wreath, within reason.

Since I don't have to provide a new star, there is a discount, indeed. Please e-mail me for the full details and offer.

Talking Great product

I’ve been looking for a badge like this for years. I just got mine today. Here’s how it looks on my W210. Installs in minutes.

Rob is a great guy and good to work with. Keep up the great work!

I got mine, but don't know how to post pics here. Maybe Rob will post them later.

I did post them in the B e n z World forum, the "I did my brakes!" thread.

Folks with W210s and W208s continue to e-mail me, asking how difficult it is to remove the upright star and install the WHITE STAR Flat Badge. So, I've compiled a sequence of photos, below.

In most cases, one can untwist the upright star with the thumb and forefinger. But in cases where the star has been on the car for years, a gentle nudge with a pair of pliers is all that is needed. Once loose, you can swap between upright and WHITE STAR Flat Badge in seconds...

Yeah, I had to rotate that collar with a pair of needle nose pliers to remove the old star....no big deal.

"I'm not paying $100* for a badge when I can get one for $25!"

so, for months i dug in my heels and was satisfied with my FORMYMERCEDES
version. but each time i washed the car, a piece of the towel would get caught
in the badge. you see, because of it's oversize diameter, it makes it problematic
to sit flat on the front part of the hood...where there is a curve. when you put
your head down close, you see one edge of the badge raised compared to the
rest.

so i Paypal the amount to DFW and it arrived within a week. it popped on to my
99 E320 in less than 5 mins....4 mins of which i spent taking a side-by-side photo.

it's nice !!! though it would have been perfect had the star been chrome instead
of white, personal aesthetics said. no big. it sits in the space perfectly....no
raised edge, no wobble....just perfect.

$100*?....i'll just have to skip the Mc-Super size meals for a spell and it'll be
worth it. dont need the trans fat anyhoo.

* it was over $100, but i dont remember what.

I've been very much enjoying the low-profile appearance of my badge!

You said earlier that you do give a discount if we send in the star that we have right now. My star is almost brand new and would just like to have that converted into a flat emblem. What do you charge on using mine? How big is the discount? How long would it take? Thanks

Yes, I can work with your original upright star. There is a significant discount, as I do not have to buy a new upright star. Please click on my e-mail address and send me your inquiry, as I use this method to keep requests in order received. I will provide complete details. Thanks.

Gee, didn't see that coming. Seriously, though, sounds like a great product and the pricing is good, considering the effort and supplies.

Thanks you. I'm settled in my new job now so I have some free time to make a batch of WHITE STAR Flat Badges on the weekends. I now always have some in stock for immediate shipment.
