Battery-charging with a battery charger...
I have a question regarding charging the battery on my '01 E320 using a standard 6v/12v output (110v) battery charger. Can the battery be safely charged with both the positive and negative cables attached, or is one of the cables supposed to be disconnected to prevent any damage to the onboard computers and such? Also, if I do disconnect one of the battery cables, will I discover that I lost all the radio stations and clock-time once connected back up?
I have a Harley that I use a trickle charger on the battery 24/7, that is wired directly to the battery, but of course, it's a trickle charger that floats or cycles off and on.
I'd appreciate the specifics on what I can or can not do; I don't drive the vehicle much in the winter and noticed the battery is a little sluggish and would just like to put it on a charger.
Thank you.

Yes, just leave the cables connected, but be darned sure you hook positive to positive and neg. to neg. and double check before you plug the charger in so you don't screw up the computer. Obviously use the 12 volt setting.
