Need STAR Diagnostic tool to disable SOS indicator in San Diego
Hi all,
I just purchased a 2001 e430 as a daily driver, it's got a few issues which i'm working on but right now the most annoying thing is this SOS indicator lamp that I have to stare at every day. I'm told that I can easily get that disabled with the usage of a STAR diagnostic tool.
Does anyone in the San Diego, CA area have one of those STAR tools and a few minutes to help me out? I'm in Spring Valley
Thanks in advance!

This is from a 2010 post - I have not had the same issue since all the W210's I have been in already has SOS deactivated in the cluster settings with Netstat.
I would say this post is worth a try - report back if it works or not:
--------------------------------------------------------------------
To turn off the SOS warning, shut off the engine and then turn the key to on (my note Position 1) . Then turn on the headlights and burn them for at least two minutes. Then turn headlights off - then turn off the key. For me, the message was still there but was gone the next morning.
As I recall the story, it has to do with the brain box having a battery voltage question and by burning the headlights for two minutes, the brain box sees a voltage drop and records the new battery voltage.
It happened to me last year and this fixed it but when it happened recently, I was able to verify the techique and the fix worked again.
I would say this post is worth a try - report back if it works or not:

I'll definitely try this thanks!
