ENGINE CLEAN GONE WRONG!
i decided to clean my engine today so i bought some engine degreaser "the foamy stuff". i covered the alternator with plastic and sprayed the degreaser all over, then i hosed off the engine. at first it wouldint start, it sounded like the battery was dead, so i jump started it and it started fine. i noticed the idle was going up and down, i started to drive it and it wont go pass 30mph and when im at a stop light it sounds like the engine is going to shut off. i opened the hood all day and let the hot weather dry up the engine but after 8 hrs in the sun i tried to drive it and still same problem. please help guys.

why not just use the SEARCH feature on this forum and type in "wash engine"
and read what others have tried. no one is really going to be able to give you
any new clues since water intrusion on crucial engine parts isn't predictable.
you're just going to have to try a variety of techniques which others have
tried.

ETC is electronic traction control (I think), but is not the check engine light, which would be a an indicator there are error codes to read out.
My thoughts would be to check the MAF connector, and then the elctrics area around the fuse box. Plug cables too, although I would think that would throw a misfire code. The fact that your battery may have discharged points to water getting where it really shouldn't have - the plus terminal or fuses.
You may also try a battery disconnect for a few minutes to reset all controllers, but make sure you have your radio code.
