Arnott Industries Air Strut

WOW! called today and talked to a rep. I did this after careful thought and hearing some of the members here opinions. Although some suggested that i go with the coil over conversions, others suggested the Arnott Industries Air Strut route. So here it goes, I am going with Arnott Industries Air Strut, as I want to keep my ride adjustments.

The good and gets better, Going through Advance Auto by suggestion from another member here was the best experience ever.

Not only are the airmatic shocks $4000 per, but the rep gave me another $50 off bringing the total per shock to $350. He stated I will give you $50 off per shock, but we need to do separate orders for each. I said heck yea, and he said their is no one else cheaper.

$350 x 4 = $1,350

p.s

He also stated that the same driver side airmatic shock is also used for the drivers rear as well with the exception that the hardware for the rear remains the same and the hardware for the drivers front is sent free with the product, and the same applies to the passenger front/rear

I never knew this. Is this correct?

I am glad it worked out . I had to replace my front right; I went with Arnott. Arnott struts are basically reconditioned oem struts.

Hey glad you went with them! I knew you would be satisfied with Arnott, I love them and Doug was super helpful with the discount code. You get the perks of having AirMatic (ride-quality, height adjustment, general badassness) without having to shell out for equally or more expensive coilovers that are less functional.

I did the fronts on my E500 and it just takes time. Disconnect the upper ball joint and use something to tie the axle so not to pull on the brake line. I found that that disconnecting the sway bar on both sides gives more room to install the new shock. Also makes it easier if both you do both sides at same time so the new shocks will go in easier.

Had mine done at the shop for $800 labor. Expensive, yes. Worth it. Probably. I don't have axle stands or any experience so it's not something I would attempt.

I do have air wrench and impact wrench and hydrolic jack and stands. so it took me only about 3 hours from start to finish. Without the power equipment maybe would have taken 6 hours. Car restoration is my hobby so for me it was simple.

Nothing is SIMPLE when you are over 65 pulling wrenches.

Next birthday I will be 61 and I still play beach volleyball, sail my Hobie Cat, SUBA dive and lift weights, walk 2 miles everyday and bicycle. Age is a mind thing much of the time. Some of the guys that are at the gym are in their early 80's and run a couple of miles everyday, and play golf 3 times a week. I'm not slowing down until I have to.

Don't have that kind of technical expertise nor do I want to learn on my prize car. Labor was expensive but having the lifetime warranty and everything worked out feels great and was worth the money IMO.

*Next Birthday I will be 18 and I like long walks on the beach and funny movies.*

I just replaced my driver's side front Arnott strut again. The Arnott strut (I did not know it was Arnott until I removed it) was replaced for me by my indie shop at 105K miles. It lasted just over 15K miles. I called Arnott to warranty my air strut that I just purchased and they said they would not send me a refund, I had to have the indie shop do the warranty. I am not happy, the strut was bought for my wife's car and I have all receipts. I'm sure the shop has enough work to do without chasing down my warranty refund.

Arnott Warranty Return Process

Sorry about your strut. They are typically very reliable with an extremely low return rate. While Arnott does offer a limited lifetime warranty in North America (2-year limited elsewhere) we do have a set policy and procedures that work in most situations.

Arnott will gladly replace (or repair) a defective product for vehicles under warranty. Unfortunately, we need the invoice from the person or company that purchased the product. This is because they may have purchased the product from any number of sources including a parts store, distributor warehouse, online or their own company inventory. We need to credit that account while also getting you (them) the replacement as quickly as possible. The Return Merchandise Authorization information is also tied to to the return shipping label which is an important part of the return process since daily we also receive cores, products for exchange and other returned items.

The shop should have ready access to the original invoice, or they can call us and we can track it down. We can get the process turned around fairly quickly. You having your receipt will help them locate the original invoice.

Sorry for the confusion but I hope we can get your part exchanged so your shop can get it fixed as quickly as possible.

Well I'm back to thank Doug and Marvin for helping me get my refund for my warrantied air strut. It did take some time, we had issues finding the paper work from the distributor. Obviously not Arnott's fault. I just want to take this time to make things right here on the internet. Doug and Marvin thank you for not giving up and helping me with the process!
