manual gearbox oil change?
Hi.
Anyone with a manual gearbox here?
Well I have one on mine, and I was wondering if anyone had any experience at changing the oil in the manual box. Is it straight forward as in any other manual car? Or are there things to be aware of? Easy to access?
Any tips or tricks?
My car is a 2003 E220 CDI Avantgarde.
Thanks.
Paal

Are you serious--if you don't know what you are looking for---HTF do you know that you can't find it anywhere---what is the real story????

I can find the oil. At the MB dealer. No problem. At $70/quart............
What i can not find is the spesifications, so I can go get another equal oil at a normal price elsewhere.
And since you mentioned, and repeated, "do not over fill", how much is the capacity?

As long as it meets MB 235.10 any 75W80 gear oil meeting those specs will work.
Filling capacity 1.2 liters which on a level surface should start to drain from fill hole.

Do you have a 5 or 6 speed manual transmission??
Additionally, all your research must have told you that there is a oil drain screw/plug service notice on the manual transmissions---if you were smart you would consult a dealer to make sure whether the notice is applicable to your vehicle and the part numbers for the current screw/plug!!

What do you call this? I call it researching. I don't have access to this documentation. I have tried searching the web for this too, but i find it very hard to gather any info on w211 manual gearboxes. Probably because 98% of the cars are autos.
Do you have a source for all your information? The MB dealer told me even if it has "lifetime" oil, it wouldn't hurt to change it.
