Air suspension thoughts

I'm strongly considering putting my 08 350 on bags and wanted some input if anyone out there has done it. What setup did you use? Pictures? Difficulties installing? Problems down the road? Thanks in advance.

these are easy to bag

use aero sport bags on the front and a double play of whatever brand you like in the rear. accuair elevel is pretty popular, i prefer autopilot v2. if the instal is done right you should have no problems down the road.

i just bagged my 72 with ss5 bags and autopilot v2

I figured it was fairly easy my problem is I don't know much about aftermarket bags. Factory airmatic I have plenty of experience with as a tech back when but don't know anything outside of that. Is the universal bag how you did your front and what do you mean by double play in the rear? You can get the bags with everything to directly bolt on from accuair for about $2300 but I'm curious if there's a lesser cost more reliable way? (Basically to where you're not paying a premium just for it to say accuair)

the older benzs have separate spring and strut so i didn't use the over bags (aero sport)

double play is just a two bellow bag, they ride better than single bellow bags

i think you would be hard pressed to find a complete accuser e level setup for $2,300 from accuair. i think just the management is like $2,100 with tank and single compressor no bags. unless you were looking at the switch speed?

aero sport bags are about $180ish a bag and the double play bags i use are SS-5 and they are about $80 a piece. so just bags alone for your 211 is right around $420 not including the brackets (another $150+ depending on if you build them yourself or find some prefabbed). i would also think about getting a second compressor, nothing worse than waiting for air tank to fill so you can drive away which is another $160+ depending on the size. i'm not super familiar with the accuair harness so you might need to wire it to add the second compressor if it does not support two compressors.

I should have clarified. It's $2250 for just the airbags integrated into their struts. Air management through accuair is almost an additional 2k to get the e level. I talked to bag riders today and figured what you were saying was the aero sports could be placed where my springs are now and they said they would do it on a coil over setup not stock and the rears they have to do some research on to see what would fit. I know bags aren't stupid money which is why I started this thread because I knew ppl would have input and paying $2250 for the accuair stuff is a lot for the name or I could be wrong and it could be worth that completely. I just don't feel like spending the cash and overpaying when it could be done just as good a different way or wasting money and paying more to correct than if I had just gone accuair.

i would not buy bag/coilover setup from accuair, you would only be buying fronts anyway. the rear of a w211 is a separate spring and strut so they are not one piece. if you really want to waste money go see airrex they make the best bag/coilover combo, i know k sport also makes them, but you only need bags and brackets for the rear.

as far as the managements go it really depends on what you want. i know people that swear by accuair and others that dislike it. the two most popular are accuair and airlift managements.

its hard to recommend something without knowing what you are wanting out of the car. you can def do it cheaper than accuair prices, but again it's all preference in the end.

damn you weren't lying about Airrex. Almost $7500! All I'm looking for is something different for my car. It's a 350 so there's no go involved so I just want something that rides nice and have some fun changing ride heights. I want to do the build myself to understand the process from start to finish. I'm in talks to potentially open a shop down here and want to learn things beyond your standard bolt on stuff. Any recommendations on rear struts to go with the bags and coilover type for the front?

If you're really feeling rich check out air runner

Honestly, for me... If you're bagging a car it has to lay. I don't see the point in doing air if you can't lay frame. All the Mercedes guys seem to have different taste so take my advice with a grain of salt if you are hoping to appeal to the masses.

I would ditch buying the bag/strut combos. Buy a set of Megan coilovers, use aero sports in the front and whatever bag you want in the rear, I like autopilot v2 over accuair, it has pre sets and integrates tank psi gauges all digitally in the controller, much cheaper as well.

the instal is easy, just make sure you don't have any bags rubbing, I hear you need to shave some stuff up front in the 211 to clear everything.

I'm just taking in all information. What set up did you use and why?

Well, there isn't a plug and play kit the wagons (particulaly 4matic) so it's all custom fabricated. I started with Alirlift Performance Chrysler 300 front struts and then modified those to work on the front. The rears are 2500lb Airlift bags with RideTech adjustable shocks.

I'm running Airlift V2 on this car, but my CL is running AccuAir E-Level. Both are great and both have their pluses and minuses. For ease of installation, you can't ignore the simplicity of a pressure-based system, though.
