2003 E500 swap
E500 upgrades and tuning.
First of all don't say "buy a E55". I'm half way though my 2003 e500 build. I'm just here to swap ideas. Questions etc.

Kleeman supercharger and LSD
Euro version larger throttle body
SLR Cams
-then you'll have 750+ Hp
Is that wrapped or painted?

2003 E500 swap
Ok, so got my c4 stars system in. Seems there is a torque limited? Whither the work I have done it should be around 400hp and 430tq. I need to remove the speed limiter also. Another thing is quicker up and down shifts. Any ideas before I go manual?

It's can be done with Cams, Headers, and Tune. That is a lot of money for small returns but can be done.
What work do you have done that allows you to estimate 400hp/430tq?

2003 E500 swap
Well I wish I had pictures, but mainly I did a lot of work on the heads by hand. I use to build v8 for racing. I'm only guessing but the tq for the trans is really giving me a problem at the moment. plus the traction control even off still doesn't like my mods. lol. right now i'm in tx and its good to run on the high ways. I have hit a bigggggg issue. while running one night at a passing speed.... had to get on the brakes. was not happy. Yes I admit, this can be a lot of money. I make most the parts my self and do all my work. This car is starting to lose the comfort of the Mercedes. I started this car for a road course and it does really well, But who doesn't like power. So here is the plan now that the 5.0 is about done. I have a 76mm that I plan on putting in the area where the second battery was. Problems.... air intake, heat etc. with a e55 engine swap and using a Dakota bell housing(haven't put my hands on it yet)hopefully it will mate up to a t56. I can start making big power.... It's not the engine that is the problem its all the damn electronics.

I have an E500 and have these current mods: OE Tuning Stage 1 & 2. The second tune just makes the rest of the exhaust components play well together.
MBH Motorsports long tube headers. A definite increase in mid to upper RPM range on the highway.
NeedsWings dual cold air intake. This was custom fabricated by Rob at NeedsWings. This company builds stellar cold air intakes that really work. The fabrication was done over a several week period on a customer's E500. Rob also provided dyno sheets noting gains before and after. A definite increase in lower to mid RPM range.
I'm considering a straight pipe to complete the exhaust modifications. Overall, I'm very pleased with the results.

Here's a pic with the NeedsWings dual intake installed. The other pic is the dyno sheet Rob at NeedsWings provided from the "build" car that was used to make my intake. Again, Rob said he has made these for the 55 but not the 500, until now.
I don't haven't ran my car on the dyno with my mods yet, so I don't have a pic of that.
NeedsWing dual intake installed on my vehicle. This is just prior to getting the MBH Motosports long tube headers installed along with a resonator delete and straightpipes while retaining the stock mufflers.

I have a OETuning stage 2. According to OETuning, the "stage 2" enables the the dual intake, long tube headers and straight pipes to play well together without in-dash error codes. The benefits of the OETune were already noticeable at stage 1.

So you get stage 2 when you have all the other components installed?

Those dyno results seem ridiculous. Intakes are rarely a restriction and almost never make more than a few hp. In most cases, they lose a few hp. I'm fairly certain you're not adding significant power to an E500 without boost.

^That's kind of my line of thought. Few NA engines really afford you the ability to mod them cheaply without forced induction.

I'm actually going to reach out to a bud that owns his own fabrication shop and pick at his brain a little to see if he could come up with some ideas.
Heres the link to his website if you want to chat with him. I'm local to him, sorta, so if i have to i'll be the test dummie.

OK sounds good. I'd definitely be interested in an intake for the right $.
Thanks I will check out the site.
