How-To: The Hidden Menus
This info is in various places but I took the time tonight to use the Snapguide app on my phone to create some easy to follow how-tos.

On a 2012 C class loaner I was able to change the clock display style to a different one but other than that, nothing terribly interesting other than some Internet connectivity settings that I was not able to figure out.
You can go into these modes and scroll around without changing anything if you're curious. If you do decide to change things, make sure you have some idea of what you're doing and what the original value was. I've noticed that changes tend not to take effect unless you perform a reset rather than just exiting the menu.
The Service Menu/Dyno Mode is obviously more useful if you intend to dyno test your car on a rig.

Is it safe to assume that is what it is? Temps have been in the upper 80s for a few days now, and I have not seen it repeated since the hotter days.

Interesting you mention this . . . I have experienced CDs not playing in my brand new 2012 E350, but attributed it to the 100+ degree heat we have been having this month here in Virginia.

In the case of the 2010 model, you can enable Bluetooth audio streaming through the Engineering Menu. You can also enable heating/cooling displays on the COMAND screen. There is a wealth of other information, some of which is interesting and some of which is useful if you are technically minded. For instance, I have been able to see some trouble codes that have been logged which may explain why my system loses audio sporadically (it may be temperature related).

Never mind, I found it. Thanks.

Has anyone found documentation of these menus, the functions and the recommended settings? I have been looking all over ... I suspect they are limited to the engineering/technical manuals that are currently not available to the public.

Great tutorial!
Quick question.....I've heard there is a way to shut off the video lock while driving through engineering mode and a "secret" menu. Are you familiar with this?
If so, how do I access this menu?
Thanks in advance!

I am not aware of a way to do this through menus. I believe it requires an aftermarket unit to bypass the lock.

I didn't think text reading was a feature until later models. not sure if comand 4.0 in a 2010 will support that. only hack was BT audio.

Works with my 5s. Perhaps the head unit needs updated firmware? I have not updated the head unit since I got the car in 2012 and it has worked with an iPhone 4s and now 5s.
